Some nice bucks there. This area has the potential to grow some big deer too, but there are too many hunters in too small an area. How much land do you guys have to manage?
Almost 400 acres and some oyher hunters around us do th same thing.

That would make a huge difference here. There is a farm behind us that is leased that is about 400 acres, used to only be three guys on it and they always crowded the lines along the river. The farm next to it that joins the corner of mine and my neighbors property used to not have anyone hunting and there were a couple others that used to not get much pressure really close to us.

Unfortunately there are people all over back here behind us now on the properties that are close, I know some of them have the brown its down mentality and some of them are most likely in places where they probably do not even have permission. Have caught 2 different people hunting on my neighbor where we have sole rights the past 4 or 5 years, both were given permission to hunt county airport property, the person giving them permission was not even authorized to do so. Ended up having to call the county mayor and that is supposed to be stopped, but I have my doubts. In both cases I heard them shoot, one shot at and killed a nice 1.5 year old 8 point with awesome potential that I had passed up at least a half a dozen times. I found the deer on my way walking back, he told me it was a 4 pointer, and said he was not sure of his shot. The other shot at a deer, said he missed and did not even know for sure what it was he shot at, but I had seen a young fork horn headed that way just a short while earlier. Makes it really tough to pass them up when stuff like this happens, but we are still trying to pass on the young ones that have good potential.

It used to be that way around here untill some land got sold to the right people. Its a whole lot easier to pass one when you know the guys across the fence will pass it to!
