CrAzYCoYoTe
I would really like to know the difference in skeet shooting, trap shooting, and sporting clays. Any info would be appreciated.
WaCoyote
In trap shooting there is a bunker (trap) where the bird comes out and goes away from you. It can go high, low, right, or left but it always comes from the same spot. You will shoot from stations that you rotate with your buddies (like volleyball). I think the closest is 16 yds and it goes to 25 yards or so. During a round you wont change distance just your sideways angle to the trap thrower. I like to shoot a few rounds of trap before the pheasant season opens. IMO this mimics pheasants pretty well excpet the clays don't turn in flight. Skeet has two towers that you stand in between. The birds are thrown from these towers and give a very fast sideways shot. I've never done it I've only watched. It looks like a lot of fun and looks a bit more challenging than trap. Sporting clays is sort of like golf. Each station (hole) will give a different type of presentation. You'll have birds go sraight up, straight towards you, two at a time from different directions, from behind you, even rolled on the ground like a rabbit, etc etc. Sporting clays is addictive! I guarantee you want a new sporting clays shotgun as soon as you shoot your first round.
