LifeNRA
I am looking to get my daughter a bow for Xmas. She will be 9 years old this December. Which one will let her grow up with? Note that this bow will be used for target and hunting! Thanks!
Guest bigalt78
you should look into the pse deer hunters. they're good shooting bows that are easy to grow with. All the kids in my little town have one and they all make it seam like that bow is easy to shoot.
Guest bowhunter56
Parker has the buck shot, and there may be another one, that as the child grows, parker will replace the cam and limbs for i think $50.

The Kid
i think jennings made my rackmaster. i shot three bucks with it and i used it till i was a senior in highschool. its shorts axel to axel and is pretty light.
dartonman
Depending on upper body strength, and if she is only 9, lets have some true fun...the camo Mathews Genesis is an awesome bow my buddy bought for his son....he put great sights on it, with a whisker bisquit, and he and his little buddys shoot it all day, even in extreme cold...its a great bow to teach fundamentals without the muscle strain per say...I love the Darton line, but if she wants something that all her and her friends can shoot, and it retain its value for later down the road, to get her a hunting rig...well, Id have to go with the Mathews Genesis, and YES they come in Hot Pink.........thats my idea for the day..........al
arrow32
Parker has the buck shot, and there may be another one, that as the child grows, parker will replace the cam and limbs for i think $50. This is the first thing that popped in my head. My brother has the buck shot and you can get them in 10 pound increments of course from I think 20 to 50 or 20 to 60 can't think of it off the top of my head. As they grow you cna get the new limbs for it for around 50 dollars and they DW goes out to about 28 inches.(can't think how short they go) Gives her alot of room to grow and there good shooting bows. Not to pricey either. IHMO there the best bow for a kid maybe not the high dollar bow everyone likes to shoot but a heck of a bow.
Guest Finn
Bought Casey a Browning Adrenaline a couple years ago. His is 40-50 pounds, but there is a 30-40 available. It's got 10 inches of drawlength adjustment (with an allen wrench) is fast and very quiet. We've been very happy with it and I'd recommend checking one out. We were at Cabela's tonight, she can not pull back 30 pounds. She shot the Parker Buckshot set at 20 pounds. The guy behind the counter could not believe how well she was shooting! We got her draw length and found out what her draw weight she can pull! She kept telling me, "Daddy, I really like that bow! I like the way it gets easy when you pull the string back!" The best thing about this bow is that it will grow with her! 18-28 inches of draw length. I can get the 30-40 limbs when she needs them, then get the 40-50 pounds limbs. PA has a 35 pound minimum limit for hunting. So she only has to work up to the next set of limbs and Ill have a new hunting partner!!! I believe this will be a good bow for her to start on! Of course I will have to add a few other goodies for her as well! Thanks all for the replies!
wildside
I'm glad to read that you're going with a Parker bow and that she is so excited about it. Like you said, you've got a hunting partner in the making! I've had my Parker Challenger for 8 years and love it. My draw is 23 inches and I pull 50 pounds. My husband teases that I shoot darts rather than arrows (because they're so short due to my draw length), but it gets the job done! Congrats on making a great choice, and I hope your daughter enjoys many years of shooting with her new bow! Laura

arrow32
Glad you like that bow John! Your going to be having a blast once you get you a new hunting partner. I know I had fun when I got someone else to shoot with but he don't feel like going hunting because he don't want to have to sit there.LOL Some day I figure he will. Good luck to her! Tom2008
The buckshot is an awesome bow and it is the bow that I push at Gander. I've sold 3 so far since I started working there about 2 months ago. The kids aged from 10 to 14 and all first time shooters. They all were shooting great out to 30 yards. LifeNRA
John just wondering but what did they run for at Cabelas? $300, but the guy said to wait to buy one! After Xmas the price will drop due to the new bows out from Parker. My daughter's birthday is seven days before Xmas. This bow is neither a B-day or Xmas gift. I think she is ready for this bow. LifeNRA
Thats a good buy John about what there sold for around here is that a package deal or just the bow? Package deal. All I would need to buy is arrows and a release. Hutch, not sure where I can find a Rinetek around here. Not any Hoyt dealers in my area, unless I want to drive a 100 miles! TreeStandBowHunter
I boought my son a Genesis a couple years back. It works for him but there are probably better bows for kids out there though;)
maddhunter
Congrats on your daughters new bow !!!! Once they start shooting they don't want to put it down. I got my son Cole a Mathews Ignition in Feb. He also is 9. I got him the 30-40lbs. He started at 30 and was up to 42lbs by Oct. 1st. You can't even hear it at all when he shoots. He loves shooting it just whenever and it will grow with him until he's ready for the BIG DADDY SWITCHBACK !!!
