mmbernskoetter
Has anyone out there had problems getting a good pattern from Powerbelt Bullets. I shoot tight patterns with my rifles but I can't get a pattern with my muzzleloader. I am shooting areo tip powerbelts (205 gr). I am thinking of trying a different bullet, any suggestions? ZooBear
I would try a sabot round. I have never been able to group Power Belts.
Guest bowhunter56
What gun do you have? have you tried different powder charges? What does the gun mfg. recomment for a bullet??
wtnhunt
Sorry, never tried powerbelts here. Have had great results with TC's xtp mags.
Tecumseh
You might have to try some different powder charges,If that doesn't do it try some other bullets and powder charge combos to find out what your gun shoots best.I use them with 100gr of 777 in my encore pro hunter it it prints a 1inc group at 100yrds and it also likes the tc shockwaves. We need more info. What type of powder are you using, also is it pellets or loose ? I use powerbelts, but am the first to say that they do not shoot well in every gun. Try some different powder and bullet combo's, and let us know if it improves. too_
mehunter
I have two TC's and neither one likes the powerbelts. I have had the best groups shooting the shockwaves 250 grain.
Guest turkeyhuntr
No two rifles will shoot the same bullets equally well. Try a different bullet and or powder combination untill you get the results your looking for.
tedicast
My 209x50 Encore, topped with a Bushnell Elite 3200, 3x9x40 scope, loves 295 grain plated hollow point powerbelts. Here is a 100 yard group. I'm sure it is capable of better then I can make it perform.
Guest coop2564
Ive tried three guns with the PB's 4'' groups the best I could do with any of them and some of the plastic seats would be lying at bottom of my target and some 10 to 30yds in front of me which makes me think they just dont come off consistantly, switched to barnes spitfire sabots and all my guns grouped much better. some get good groups with the PB's but my guns dont. Tominator
They seem to pattern pretty good in my Encore, but not as good as the Shockwaves.
Guest Ironhorse
I had a similar problem until I realized I wasn't seating the bullets all the way down every time. I marked my ramrod so I can tell now. Never had any problems with 195 gr aero tips and 100 gr of pyrodex out of a CVA Magbolt 150 after that. hoosierhunter
the biggest problem I had with powerbelts was no expansion. I was shooting 300 grain aerotips with 100 grains of prodex. I was shooting with a tree as a backstop and I was able to pull 4 bullets out of the tree that literally and this is no joke, didn't expand period. It was so bad you could have darn near sho the bullet again!!! I switched to T/C shockwaves with 250grains and those fly great.
Nick
Hmm...Powerbelts are the best patterning bullet I've shot through my muzzle loader! I shoot a 245grain Powerbelt Aerotip with 120 graind of loose Pyrodex out of my .50 cal Knight Revolution. It will shoot a 3 shot group inside a 50 cent piece at 100 yards. PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
I have tried them in several rifles. I never got anything but barely acceptable accuracy. I shot one doe with one and it went about 50 yds without bleeding much. I almost lost that deer but managed to find her. I suspect I got no expansion from that bullet. Needless to say I do not use them anymore. I have heard that Traditions and CVA are in cahoots with Powerbelt and only recommend them for their rifles to the point of voiding their warrenty if you shoot something else. That is what I call a marketing gimmick. They fit too lose in most rifles to shoot accurately and many will say no expansion.
Guest scubabeartoo
Check out the Precision Bullet's Dead Center. The 200gr 40cal is a good starting point in most T/C guns. Bear
MichiganHunter
well i just tryed them in my old gun, it's a side lock and they were "OK" it's got open sights and it held a 6" gp at 70yds i'm goin to keep it as my back up gun and back up bullets but as far as my encore pro hunter goes i'm sticking with Shockwave 200gr. Hoosierbuck
I shoot 225 gr. Aero-tip Powerbelts out of my Knight .45 over 150 gr. of Pyro pellets and it groups like nobody's business. At long range, terminal performance is outstanding. Big exit wounds on shots over 90 yards. At less than that, the bullet tends to fragment dramatically resulting in devastating, gory kills, but no exit wound. Like a previous poster said, either love 'em or hate 'em. I am a LOVE 'EM, myself. HB
