NS whitetail
Great buck, how about a little back story? here is a story from one of his good friends that was posted on novascotiahunting.com Last nite of the hunt arrives and Trent is at the bottom of the courage barrel and decides to stick out one last nite in his stand. At about 4:30 he starts to leave thinking his chances mite be better doing a little heater hunting and decides to stay anyway. 4:40 he catches movement across the opening he is set up on, coming down out the greenwoods off a hill on the dead run and stops behind some small ever greens. Later we find out there is a huge log impeding his progress form crossing the brook at the bottom of the ravine which is the only reason he likely stopped. At any rate, he stuck his head out slowly then forward shoulder, offering about a 80 yrd shot. Bang. I get back to the camp late as I have almost a half hr drive to my hunting location and meet him on the deck . He is like "where have you been , I been waiting, I shot something, something big" and turned and walked into the camp, obviously shaken lol. He then claims it mite be the one on the cuddeback. I was like how long was it since you shot, he said about an hour and a half. I said lets go look then, it was sprinkling litely by then. We found hair right off the bat but no blood and made a quick peek up where he saw him run. Nothing. I said no worries, we will come back at first light and go from there. The next morning we climb the hill to where we think he may be and there he was, perfect shot thr the vitals and a very proud moment for a deserving hunter. The buck weighed 191 but was as poor as any living animal I EVER saw. Its back bone was visisble thru the fur so a conservative guess would be 220 lb range in peak condition. Its at the taxidermist now and no measurements yet, but like you all say, its a record, just how high up is all that remains. The pics I posted definated accented the size but here is another of just the deer and it still impresses.
