Alright fellow hunters i need some help!!! Tonight at about 430 I put the judo chop on a monster 11pt, 150 class buck. Complete pass through at about 16 yds. I was 15ft up and put a hurting on this ole brusier. Got down about 25min went to the spot where the deer was shot. Found the arrow and a ton of whitehair and a lil blood. Went to where the deer jumped the fence and found a lil blood on the other side but nothing significant. I shot a big 8pt this year and had the same thing happen. Watched him go down 40 yds from my stand. This deer took off and sounded like he was stopping the ground off in the distance. It appears that my arrow has some fat on it as well . Im pretty positive I put a good on him i keep playing it over and over in my mind. What do you guys think and has this happend to any of you? O and um what in the world should I do? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks fellow hunters!!

I agree about waiting for daylight.

White hair, and fat do indicate a low hit, but don't presume the arrow entered low. At 15 ft up, you could very well, have hit him low, but not in the brisket. It may have just exited low, thus the white hair and a little fat.

You may have clipped the bottom of his lung, or heart, or both, and exited low on the other side.

Wait until morning, try looking for a blood trail beyond where you last seen it, and if no blood is found, after a good trailing job, then go for a good grid search. If you hit vitals, you'll find him. ;)

the fat means a low hit but it might just mean the exit was low which is ok sometimes, that might explain the little amount of blood, i shot a doe this year straight down under my stand and had no blood because the fat plugged the exit hole.. i know your deer wasnt that close but you might have hit him good... its the next day so lets hear the results!!!

Went out picked up the blood trail lost it after about 100yds. then did a grid search for about 4 miles. Never found him  Did find a lil 8ptr that someone had shot and never found. And also found someone hunting one of my stands that I only like to hunt if everything is perfect for that spot. I see mature bucks everytime I hunt it, but we are being really picky on the bucks we shoot. And this guy is up in my stand, ok its bad enough hes in it, then trys telling me he has permission to hunt there. Which is funny because its some of our leased land and its in writeing that my dad and myself are the only ones that have permission for any kind of hunting. To make a long story short the idiot was still in my stand when the landowner arrived. Im sure you can all figure out what happend next. So now that im done venting the last few days have been a real kick in the face. Thanks for the help tho guys, I really appreciate it!

I hit a doe tonight forward and really low myself...bunch of white hair and mt arrow was clean even though it passed clean through there was no blood or anything on it. I'm pretty sure she is going to be ok...maybe sore for a few days but will live I hope...never found a single drop of blood anywhere.

Sounds to me like there is a good possibility you hit him low and just cut him a bit. That would explain the fat for sure. Either way I'd be out there in the morning following the blood the best you can and doing a grid search to be sure. Good luck.;)

My thoughts exactly. Good Luck finding him. Just stay patient
