Guest Tatonka
This is an old photo of my Dad and a buck he killed in 1946.... Definitely not the biggest buck he ever killed as he killed many big bucks, but the photo is pretty neat..

Yup I often hear that same thing. To see a deer track was something special....hard to believe considering the deer population these days. Texan_Til_I_Die
Neat pic. Ever notice how in those old pictures the hunters almost always have their pants legs tucked into the top of their boots?

Question though...how does he have that deer hung up??? It's tied up to a plank that came out over the back door to our house. The line/rope you see stretching out in the photo in front of the deer is our old clothesline. I love old photos also.....I wish I had more. I think my uncle took this photo, but I'm not sure. I've got a few more I should post, but few were taken of the deer my father, uncles, etc. killed and they killed a bunch of them. Back in those days there wasn't the interest in horns that there is today. We usually saved them, but the weight of the deer was what people talked about. beagleboy
I love old hunting pictures. I've been keeping a hunting photo album ever since I started hunting and I love taking pics. I look at that album at least once a month and it really brings me back almost 20 years. Some day, 30 years from now, my kids will look at that album and see the same thing you see in that pic of your dad.
elnor
Thanks for sharing that. I've been on a personal quest this fall to find old family hunting photos, too; so far not much luck back past my father's generation, but I'm still looking. We had a get together on Thanksgiving however and my Great Uncle was reminiscing about deer in southeastern Oklahoma in his childhood (1920s). Back then, he said, if anyone even *saw* a deer in the county, word got round. It was a big event. Thanks to the love of wildlife by outdoorsmen and the hard work of many people involved in conservation, the times have certainly changed! Tominator
Yep, sweet pic. How'd you like to have that car that's in the background? My dad never hunted deer, probably because there weren't any around! Pheasant was king back then.
