Guest JimFromTN
This is probably an old discussion but I am new to the board and have not figured it all out yet. I have an 870 magnum that I want to get a cantelevered barrel for and I don't know which one to get. I would love to have the hastings with the csd but it is out of stock everywhere and the cheapest that I have found it is around $260 at midwayusa. I can get a mossberg with a ported barrel and a cheapo tasco riflescope for around $170. I would get rid of the tasco and get a better scope like a sightron SII 1.5-6x42. Does anyone have any experience with the mossberg replacement barrel? I have seen some pretty good reviews of it. If I can get the same results for $80 to $90 cheaper, then I will go with the mossberg. My 3 options are Hastings Remington Mossberg Also, I have heard that if you get the barrel pinned, it is allot more accurate. Has anyone had this done? Is this permanant in that you can't just unpin it and put another barrel on.

str8shooter48
Welcome to the forum. Don't much about the Mossberg replacement barrels, I can say that the factory Remington barrel I have on my 1187 is a darm good barrel. Your choice of a scope Sightron II is a good one. I have a SII 3x9x42 on my Encore 308 barrel. Excellent scope. I will be replacing the Bushnell on my Encore 209x50 with the same before next season. Great scopes for the money.
