Guest Zoerb
I'm interested in buying land. It would be my first land purchase. I'm checking out a section of 40 acres full of harwoods and black spruce. Any advice? Anything I need to watch out for? I would like to use the property for bow hunting, with 3 potential spots for stands.
wtnhunt
Would try to find out as much as possible about the area and hunters hunting the surrounding properties as you can.
rhine16
Like said above, I would definitely try to find out about the hunting pressure around you. Whether they manage their herd or shoot anything that moves, or bowhunt only. 40 acres wont be enough to hold deer, so you need to find out about this. Guest Zoerb
Thanks for the advice. What would you consider enough acreage to hold Whitetails?
Guest Zoerb
Please disregard previous question. Answered in another thread.
dogdoc
If the conditions are right you can see plenty of deer on 40 acres. Now will the 40 acres hold deer that will never leave your 40 acres--NO but you can build a nice deer paradise for 40 acres and see plenty of deer.
