I am very sad to say that I just got a phone call from my daughter at the hospital from Ok. City.....

They were unable to save Mikes figners. The doctor said that they were in to bad of shape to put them back on. The 1st 3 figners on his left hand are off at the 2nd joint. They also said that he had some damage to his little figner also......

They were finishing up Mikes hand and he will be back home tonight......

Man this just makes me sick and if anyone out there has a cheering up word for me I sure can use it right now......

Thanks for listening...........

Re: Update on Roadkill10.......

griz---i don't know what to say except i am sorry. tell him we're all thinking about him and praying for him.

If there is anything encouraging it is just that he is alive---he will learn how to adjust---and if he's right handed he will still be able to shoot his bow and gun just fine.

give him my best

Re: Update on Roadkill10.......

Griz, i agree with everyone else in saying that Roadkill is very lucky that he didnt lose more than his fingers. he may have lost his whole hand, can you imagine how hard it would be to lose your whole arm? i know it seems bad, and it is! I know/knew many people just like Roadkill. one man i knew, lost his right arm, and he was right handed. the guy was about 65 years old when he lost it. they would still come up to my grandma's tourist resort, which is his paradise, for 4 weeks in June and July. they were from Philadelphia, PA, and my grandma's is 1.5 hours west of Ottawa, ON, Canada!!! and yes, HE would drive!! that is about a 500 mile trip. shocked.gif he was a very determined person. he even towed up his 22' boat. we all up here didn't know how he did it, but thats what determination gives you. he would drive that big boat around the lake, he loved to fish. he had found a way that he could still fish, and then from the help of his wife, and i would go out and help him and drive the boat for him so he wouldn't over-do it. and the man managed to catch one of the biggest walleyes that he has ever caught in his life after he lost his arm. it was 9lbs 15oz. he also learned how to write with his left hand, and use the computer and type with only his left hand, and wow, that man sure could type!! i lost my true friend about 2 years ago. he got his all time wish, that his ashes were put into the lake at my grandma's. all of his family travelled from southern PA up here to Canada for the ceremony. we arranged that our priest come to the resort and do a ceremony for us and their family. everyone was heartbroken that we lost our true friend. and when the priest said to take a moment to recall a thing that Irv did or said that you will always remember, i broke into tears. all of our memories went flying through my head, out in the boat with him, visiting him in his cabin for hours, and him coming into my grandpa (who was bedridden for 25 years due to a leg amputation) but, the last year he came up, i think he knew that it would be his last year, i remember him laying his hand on my shoulder and telling me thank-you for everything that i had done for him over the 16 years that i had known him and he told me that he loved me. that was probably one of the most touching moments of my entire life. this man inspired me, and i think of him often. so there's a story for you Griz. a story about a man that with only one arm, inspired his family and friends with his determination to live a normal life. I want to wish Roadkill a good recovery, and i hope that he can live his life the way Irv did. Thank-you for taking the time to read this.

Re: Update on Roadkill10.......

I would like to thank everyone for praying for Mike and thinking of him....

Mike is doing really good right now. Since I'm his father-in-law Mike has no excuse but to get through this. Just like I told him. Everytime I think he's filling down he better look over his shoulder because I'm going to be right behide him kicking him square dab in the but...lol

He will get through this. I will see to that...

I know what yall are saying. Yeah! Mike is real lucky.

I have Thank God himself that it wasn't worst....

Thanks again folks for the kind words....

You don't know how much it meant to me.....
