Turkeygirl
Do you put up a fake Christmas tree or a real one? If you put up a real one, do you buy it or go cut it out of the woods? We've always had a real one up...I cut down and dragged back last year's and will do the same this year...but we are downsizing our tree a little bit:cool: The bigger...the messier...it's not all about trees and presents anyway but when mom said"maybe we shouldn't do a tree" I said no,lol. Gotta love that fresh pine smell:D
Southerngirl
REAL!!I'm already checking out the cedars on the farm
NS whitetail
we always had a real pine, but when our little guy came along three years ago, we switched to an artificial tree. It's not the same as a real one -- but alot less mess
wyohunter
when i was young i would go and saw down a tree every year, but now we have two fake tree's..one upstairs and one down
Ravin R10 man
real here..I prefer a blue spruce..they seem to keep the needles better...and we go out to a neighbors tree farm and for about $20 I get a really nice trimmed full tree. Nothing like the smell of conifer..just aint Christmas without it.
Turkeygirl
Andy cut down a Norway spruce one time...oh man thoseneedles were everywhere, lol. Last year I cut down a white spruce and those are nice...compact. I'll get this year's from the same place actually...for free:-) I heard something on the news the other day about some fake x-mas tree they recalled or something because it had lead in it...duh
Guest Finn
I really prefer them to be real. Had fake ones the last couple years, but it just ain't the same. Many of my cousins raise Christmas trees, so I will get one from them...the price is right.

stevebeilgard
we always do real. i love the smell of the tree, and it's part of the whole christmas experience. and, as an added bonus, it pisses off the environmentalists.... Dubie
I use a fake now, but when I was a kid it was always real. I remember my dad making me go out into the woods, chopping down huge tamarak pines, looking at the top before declairing it no good and sending me after another one. Then, I would have the priviledge of cutting up the reject trees for firewood...
wtnhunt
I sure do like the smell of a real tree, but we have not had a real tree since we have had kids, least not that I can remember. Dreading putting the tree up this year, or 2 year old climbs on everything.
Guest Lauri Jo
Gotta have a real one here. I haven't gone out to cut one down, though I would love to do that. Maybe one day. We haven't gotten our tree yet.
elkoholic
I have the tree cutting duty here and even though finding the "perfect" tree can sometimes be a challenge I would not miss the smell of a fresh cut tree for anything. There are ways to limit the mess and Christmas only comes once a year so I never understood the clean-up complaints. Some years I have cut a tree over a mile from my truck but this year I cut one off our property and the wife picked it out so there should be no complaints about how it looks. mmmm.....it sure smells good
RangerClay
I cut our red spruce last weekend and drug it out. I really like the spruce trees because they give off such a nice smell that the other trees don't. It make the house smell like Christmas. Deb
Fake this year. But I do love the smell and look of the real ones.
HuntingInMaine
I always have three real trees in my home. One in the living room and two smaller ones for the boys' rooms. I wanted to get live ones for the boys rooms to replant in the yard, but I don't know if they would last until next spring. I'm with turkey girl, the ground is way to frozen to dig up right now! I can't imagine putting up a fake tree, it just wouldn't seem right.
Guest Scottishhunter
We always do fake, its a nice enough tree but i've always wanted a real one for just one time but my mum says it too much work with all the needles you need to clean up.
