Arrowslinger
I hope this does not come off as a "buy me" post, I do not work for elusivecamo nor do I have any personal connection to the site. A lot of you may not even find these helpful, but the reading may entertain you? Jim Nabors has to be one of the most likable hunting characters to ever put out a hunting video, his raw southern/cajun dialect is a pleasure to listen to. The over the shoulder camera hunts from the wildventure series in my opinion are some of the best ever made. When watching the video you get the feel as if you were right there with the boys. These fellows put together a series of bowhunting videos that now may be lost forever. If you enjoy bowhunting and love hunting videos check these out, and now for my story. I got into archery/bow hunting in 1995 I was in a local video store to rent a movie, as I browsed I came across a PSE instructional video on beginning archery and beside it was a video called "Big Bucks Shore 'Nuff", the back of that tape box intrigued me. Needless to say I rented both, after viewing these I had a real itch to try this and started hanging out at a pro shop. Well at this pro shop they carried the entire series of Wild venture videos the production company that produced "Big Bucks Shore 'Nuff". Now these videos are no more different than Drury, Real tree, etc. the one difference was the two main people Jim Nabors and Steve Webber were local, Steve was from Anderson S.C. and at the time Jim lived in or around Greenville S.C. or Oklahoma? I had never met either nor did I know them, but locations mentioned in the video made me understand that some of the videos locations were in the upstate of South Carolina. Well I spent that entire year watching those eight videos along with the PSE instruction video, I shot and learned to tune a bow, shot placement, practice etc. Late that fall I went into the woods bow in hand for one of the most memorable hunting seasons I have ever had, never took a deer but had several misses. The next year on my second trip I harvested a nice buck, what a thrill that was to accomplish on my own with the handicap of having lost my eye, it is really hard to describe that excitement. Now we get to 11/28/2007, I had found those tapes at a few places online but only one looked reputable the other two were like angel fire sites. Well about 8:30 I sent an email asking for a price list to elusivecamo.com who had them and how to order the certain tapes I wanted. A few minutes after I sent the email from my office, my day officer tells me I have a call at my desk, I pick it up and hear in a real thick southern accent; "Hi Mike this is Steve Webber with elusive camo” I almost dropped the phone! We had a great chat and I was on the phone probably more than I should have been, we talked bow hunting, filming and how we knew some of the same people from Anderson S.C. Steve told me he would have to call Jim who now guides in Idaho and tell him about me and how I made him feel he was a celebrity, he told me; "dude we just did some outdoors stuff, had some great guys”. You guys want these tapes get in touch with Nancy at www.elusivecamo.com, Steve did tell me once these were gone they were gone for good, I missed two because they were out. Nancy’s number is 1 800 460 8833 tell her Mike Richey from Chicago told you where to get them I am transferring all of mine to DVD as we speak, IMO a loss to the bow-hunting world if these videos disappear. http://elusivecamo.com/wildventure.htm There is the page with all Jim Nabors videos
buckee
Welcome to the Realtree forums Mike. Thanks for the info. It would be a shame to see good hunting videos not be available anymore. Why can't they put them all on DVD, just to keep the going ? I tried clicking on your links, and all I got was "Server not found Firefox can't find the server at elusivecamo.com."
