Guest MassNTrash
That's a great story. It sounds like you really earned that monster. He's going to look great on the wall. "Forgot your gun"...LMBO...sorry, just had too. :D I was just telling my buddy a few weeks ago, that a couple of times, I have gotten deer, after forgetting my knife. I told him it must be good luck or something ...but your gun ? I'm cruel, I know, but hey, you got a monster....way to go. Buckee, all I can say is that buck had me just plain beat. After I wounded him, I couldn't eat and couldn't sleep. I would wake up with nightmares from him. The late season conditions were brutal, with heavy knee deep snow. I was pounding the ground, trying to turn him up again. I was literally physically and emotionally drained. I came close to ending it several times during that 3 and a half weeks, with numerous big bucks within my sights, but I just couldn't pull the trigger as I was after that 'one' buck. To top it off, the forestry company that I was working for at the time was going belly up. Heck that last week of the season, the repoman came and got several of the bush trucks. Christmas was coming and it was looking like I was out of a job, but I really could care less. All I could think about was that buck. The morning of the last day, I woke up and pretty much crawled( because I was hurting so bad) out to the truck to warm it up, came back in the house and poured myself a cup of coffee and walked out with all my gear but my rifle. I have never in my life been so beat up by the end of hunting season.
