RangerClay
I got married before Al Gore invented the internet dating. But I have heard nothing but horror stories from those who have tried it. I saw on the news recently that the popularity of these dating sites is WAY down. Some of them are struggling to survive. Guest AllArmyoutdoorsSD
I don't know my self, but being in a new area and not liking the idea of bars and clubs, not sure how else to meet people. Still pretty leary.
cinch314
Never tried it myself, even though I have meet some new friends via the internet and then in person.
Tominator
Ohiobucks asked me out a few times but I suggested we just go hunting, might be less cumbersome.

muggs
It's getting more and more common and I'm sure within 5 years or so it will be a regular thing. I actually attended a wedding last year in which the couple met on one of the online dating services. They seemed like a good match.
MCH
Muggs and BB11 met online a few years back and are still going strong. So it does work out in some cases. :D

buckee
From some of the stories I've heard, both private and on the news, it's a pretty big risk you're taking, especially if your a female. I don't know if I'd want to take that risk.
Guest DIRTY DUKE
One of my good friends met his girl online and he just moved to Tampa to be with her. I hope it works out for him:rolleyes:
Dubie
I met my Fiancee online. We've been going out for over two years, and are getting married soon. No horror stories, though she is the only person I've ever met online. It must have been realy riskey for her, and looking back, I don't know the heck she was thinking. Foolish risk-taking girl. One of our earlier dates, I actualy took her back-woods camping. I loaded up the car with some blankets, a tent, some food and a campstove, a shovel, a hatchet, and a rifle. She jumped right in, and let me drive her out into the wilderness...

Guest AllArmyoutdoorsSD
i'd call it church:o:) I enjoy church and the many friends I have met at church, however I am not there for my social life!!
Southerngirl
I don't know what I'll do when I take a notion to start dating, but I don't see me filling out any online profiles to meet a complete stranger.........
unioncountyslayer
I enjoy church and the many friends I have met at church, however I am not there for my social life!! I don't think that's what Steve meant. I can't think of a better place to meet the person you will spend the rest of your life with than church. He took the words right out of my mouth. archerjg
I have tried Internet dating and sometimes you meet some very nice people and sometimes you don't. Church is a great place to meet new people as well, but when you live in a small town and the vast majority are related in some way it kind of makes it hard to date some of them. I have found that the vast majority of the reputable sites aren't too bad and you can meet a lot of people. Archerjg

No Kidding!!! When me and the X started dating we found out we were distantly kin by marriage. When we took my Grandpa to my family cemetary, there was more of Hank's kin there than mine! Does kinda make you wonder.......
Alisha
I had been a member of the RT forums for a couple months and talked to Shaun_300 pretty often. One day he asked if it was ok to give another RT friend of his my MSN info so we could chat. Come to find out that friend of his was total_disaster (Justin) on here. Justin and I talked as friends for about a year online and on the phone and then I went up there in March '07 for a couple days and we totally clicked in person as well. Since then he has been here to visit a couple times and I've stayed with his family several times as well. This past October when he came down to visit, he asked my Dad if it was okay to marry me and Dad gave him the go ahead. We hope to get our house sometime next year as well as get hitched. It's great being with a guy who enjoys doing the same things you do... and before him, that wasn't the case for almost 6 years with my ex. I really was blessed to meet him and couldn't thank Shaun enough. :D
