TCO
I got this buck on the opening day of rifle season in Lyman County, SD. I passed on a nice little 4x4 whitetail early in the morning and saw this one right as I was heading to the pickup. I went along a crick kind of hoping to see a turkey when this deer walked out of the bottom. He is a 4x5 with about a 22 inch spread. He is one of the biggest bucks to be taken out of this piece of land in a long time. We took him to get mounted the day after we got him and it will look nice on the wall. This is by far my best deer and I am only 17 so I am hoping to get another nice one sometime. I really never care too much if I get a deer or not. I just love getting outside and away from stuff and to get to see a bunch of people that I have known my whole life. Any idea on what this will score? I shot it with my 7x57 mauser rifle that my dad used on his first deer he ever shot.
JasonLester
Great looking buck congrats. And with the same rifle your dad used for his first. COOL. as for the score.. not shure how muledeer score Check Boone and Crockett club website. http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/bc_scoring_typmuledeer.asp?area=bgRecords&type=Typical+Mule+Deer+%26+Blacktail If you get the antlers you can just get a cloth tape measure and get close. Or look for a cheap 1/4 wide tape. Official scoring is after 60 days of drying.

Guest adamo
nice lookin muley! Not sure on score, but being a measurer for years I do know that mule deer never seem to score as high as you'd think. My dad has a 31" wide 5x6 from Harding County SD and looks like a monster on the wall, but only measurers 163". I had a bunch of college buddies from Lyman Cty, spent a lot of time out there hunting and helping them during calving season. Beautiful country! congrats on the great deer!
