AC156
I am looking at a used 870 Express Magnum that I am thinking about buying for my dad for Christmas. It has a 3" chamber, which is all he needs. It has a wood stock that is in pretty good shape. The gun was sent to Ballistic Specialties in Batesville, AR where the barrel was cut down to 22 1/2" and forced coned. It comes with a modified choke tube and a super full turkey choke from ballistic specialties. The gun is in really good shape. The guy who has it wants $300 for it. That sounded like a pretty reasonable price to me. What do you guys think?
ZooBear
Around here you can buy an 870 brand new for less than $300.00.
Tominator
Too much IMHO. Sounds like the guy is trying to recoup the cost of the custom work, but like mentioned above, brand new they're only around $240-300 depending on combinations. dartonman
I have to agree...shop around, he is probably trying to move it, as the custom work didn't work.........if your gonna burn 300, you could get him a new one.............al
johnf
Go to Walmart and get one. I don't know if they sell them in Batesville, but I'm pretty sure they do in Searcy.
rad_112176
Too much. You could buy a 870 Super Magnum for new for around the same price and he could use 3 1/2" shells for turkey or duck hunting.
LETMGROW
There are a lot of different grade 870's out there. You really have to look around. Presently there are several variations of Wingmaster and Gamemaster on the market now. I wonder why anybody would cut a barrel down then add a turkey choke? You are well within the price range of a new 870. That is the route I would take. Lynn
Cleburne
Only two Wal-Marts around still carry guns, but they do have a camo 870 for $325, so I would shop around. Make the man an offer and he may take you up on it.

woodshed
Was that price for a short barreled one. I was there looking at the black synthetic ones with short turkey barrels and the cheapest was 309.00. But it had a 3.5 inch chamber I guess.
