I hate it when...

my prejudices are disproved.

It's not really a "racial thing", it's more of a "perceived attitude" thing. Here we go. There are these 2 girls at work, black girls for the sake of the story, and they always seemed to be standoffish and spoke to few people and projected "black girl attitude" to everyone else. So, naturally, I determined they were probably (rhymes with) witches.

A couple of weeks ago, one of the girls, Angela, was moved into my old department, CTO (configure to order, we did nothing but custom builds, but I digress). At first, I avoided her whenever possible until 1 day one of my friends was talking to her about investing and called me in for advice (cause I'm smart like that ). Angela couldn't have been nicer, and seemed to really want my opinion and took in as much as she could. One opinion changed, but that's okay because her friend, Latoya really seemed to be the more abrasive of the 2.

So, I started officially on my new account last Friday and when I got a list of who would be on my team, Latoya was the first name on the list. Here we go again. Well, over the last few days I've gotten to know her pretty well because I seem to have to fix a lot of her units- not her fault, it's more that we get our motherboards at Crazy Larry's Flea Market and Computer Emporium. Anyway, she turned out to be even sweeter than Angela, if that's possible, completely free of any pretension.

They're both joining the Navy within the next few months and acknowledge that they don't know a bunch about computers, so they really take in any advice we give and don't try to improvise like a lot of people around there do.

That's why I don't like getting to know people, I hate for my snap judgments to be proven wrong.:o

I only judge people after I speak to them for an extended amount of time. The color of someone's skin only determines one thing, the neat "color label" you'll have placed on you. The whole thing seems almost childish to me. And if anything, my label isn't really all that accurate. "White" is so general, this time of year I think "pasty white" nails it.:D
