Shaun_300
Just wanting to get the message out early that we're planning on having a weekend of ice fishing fun up here in the Ottawa Valley. Muff and RangerClay are planning on coming so far (that I've heard). It will be on Golden Lake, ON. This is located about 4 hours northeast of Toronto, 2 1/2 hours northwest of the 1000 Islands Region, and 1 1/2 hours west of Ottawa. We're talking about everyone meeting at my grandma's resort in the morning on a Saturday and fishing all day. Although the resort is closed in the winter, there are 3 restaurants within 2 miles of her place, and one of them is Chinese if anyone likes that. There's also a motel right on the lake with reasonable rates. (I can get the actual rates this weekend) We'll be fishing walleye, northern pike and whitefish. Just wanted to through the idea out for now and see how many people are interested in coming. We can set a date later on whenever it suits for everyone. The lake is froze and right now as I type it is -23 outside, chances are I'll be fishing this weekend.

RangerClay
I PM'd Muff that we need to meet in the chat room one day next week to discuss a fishing date. I'm going to my out-laws for their Christmas party. Is there a good night for you Joe & Shaun? Right now the only weekends I cannot fish are January 12 & Feb. 23rd

muggs
I won't agrue with the beer point. We'll see how it plays out. I'm already heading to Lake Simco in Feb. though so I just don't see two trips happening.
craig mack
How far is that from Detroit?
Shaun_300
I'd say 7-8 hours, could be more if you hit bad weather or traffic in Toronto, I'd say 9 times out of 10 you'll hit stop and go traffic in Toronto, it's pretty much a given. You're more than welcome though if you want to make the trip!

Muff
Hey Shaun would I need to bring up the 4 wheeler?
Shaun_300
Hey Shaun would I need to bring up the 4 wheeler? Yep definetly wouldn't hurt to bring it. Hopefully there's not too much snow for them, I know you wouldn't get too far on a 4-wheeler right now! The snow would be coming over the handlebars. RangerClay
Shaun, With Muff's every other weekend schedule it looks like we are leaning towards early March. Will that be a problem?
Shaun_300
Sounds good to me guys! March is an awesome time to fish, the weather is usually beautiful and the fish usually bite the best at that time.

Shaun_300
The 1st works for me, I only work every 3rd or 4th saturday, and if my foreman books me in for that one I'll trade with one of my other co-workers.
Muff
As far as I know the first is good for me to.
RangerClay
What are we going to need Shaun? Tip-ups? Jigging poles? I will have my 8" Jiffy power auger and the rest of my ice fishing arsenal.
Shaun_300
Yep, jiggin' poles and tip-ups sound good. You won't need that auger but if you want to bring it for back up it wouldn't hurt I guess. I have a 10" power auger that's always hungry for ice.
