Mitchell report

This whole thing is a bunch of crap. There are surely plenty of other players that could be on that list. Mitchell didn't get full cooperation from the players on this and there is no way they can single out the guys with very little evidence. I haven't read the report and quite frankly I don't care about it. I hope they get it cleaned up for the integrity of the game.

I don't see how Selig is going to punish all the current player or some and not others. He will have to get better evindence on most of them to do anything. He's talking a big game but he has his hands tied. He sould just leave it alone and try to come up with a better testing policy!

I actually thought there was a lot more hard evidence in this reports then I figured there would be. In the case of some players there is an overwhelming amount of evidence, Clemens for example.

Anyway, how about our boy Bud Selig last night? Did anybody catch his press conference? He endorsed and backed the entire report, even stated he would hand down punishments as needed, and then he stated that HE DIDN"T EVEN READ THE REPORT YET.

What a joke.

What saddens me about this whole ordeal is the fact that these guys are supposed to be like role models for our youth. What is all the performance enhancing drugs and steriod taking of the pro athletes both male and female saying to our youth? Basically it implies that if the big boys are going to do it to help their performance then it is ok for us to use it to improve our performance. Especially if nothing comes out of the deal. That really saddens me.

Guys, we all need to settle down about this. Don't drink the Selig Kool-Aid. Let's analyze this- in a vacuum- guarded from the hype machine that is the electronic mass media.

Q: Where did the evidence found in the Mitchell report come from? Two trainers, clubhouse boys, whatever. That's it- two. Both of whom were from New York. That leaves out a vast majority of MLB clubs, does it not? So right there, that tells a logical thinker such as myself that the scope of this "investigation" was very limited- one would only think, intentionally so.

Q: Who was named on this report: The simple answer is, generally people we already knew were users. Bonds...are you kidding? Paul Byrd, Rick Ankiel, and numerous other names which had already been leaked to the public. Outside of that, most of these names were not major, or the vast majority were players who have been out of the league for some time- like a Glenallen Hill, Albert Belle, Mo Vaughn, and John Rocker.

Q: What did this report tell us: That steroids are bad for you, they were widespread throughout MBL, and that the current testing system is working now. Wow! Can you guys believe that?

Q: What was the point of all this: Selig's damage control. It shows at face value that something was done, so it will help ease the tension and help it to be swept under the rug.

Q: What will happen from here: The media will become tired with the story, and our microwave society with ADD will go nuke some chicken nuggets and flip on CSI Miami and go back to feeling warm and cozy again. So, in other words, nothing will happen....outside of some suspensions, maybe some being as long as 50 games.

Q: Where any real questions answered in this report: No, I for one would like to know how the "steroid era" will be treated by MLB, mostly in regards to how records set during this time (which are numberous) will be handled.

The usual song and dance boys...lets talk football.

Mitchell Report

See Barry Bonds isn't so bad after all!! I think it is crazy to penalize some guys as far as awards and hall of fame is concerned.

Would it be fair to block Bonds or Clemens from the hall of fame when you have guys like Babe Ruth and others who Drank before games to relax ( performance enhancement) and used the drugs of that era? If you read the history books on some of these big names you might be suprised to find out what they did. Unfortunately the media needs a story and there's money involved.

I think the majority of people would rather see a 500 ft Bonds HR while he's on something over a soft blooper over 2nd baseman's head by some 4th year no name fighting to stay in the big leagues.

Just my opinion

I watched that last night too. What a bunch of losers. These guys are still lying about it. Vina was lying right through his teeth.

You watch, that's going to be the new excuse now. Everytime somebody gets caught it's going to be "oh well I was hurt and I was under a lot of pressure and I just broke down and took HGH a couple times". These guys are pathetic, seriously. These DB's think they are fooling everybody.

That interview with Vina was funny.....he was stumbling on words and seemed not real sure what to say....

Of course teh guy that was asking the questions was going right at him.....

I really like that one about: "did mitchel contact you vina to talk.....um ah no don't think he did......really cause in the report it says he did and you declined to talk with him.....well um I don don don't know anything about that nor does my agent.....":eek::rolleyes::rolleyes::mad::mad::mad:

Yup, John nailed it. Get ready for:

"I was hurt way back in 2002- when HGH was not a banned substance mind you- and I was trying to get back on the field, because that's the type of player I am. I need to be out there, and I was letting my team down, so I used HGH for two days so I could get back out on the field."

Save it.

All of these excuses are funny to me. Used it for a couple days? Come on, we all know that it takes a while to work. If you take it to heal better from an injury, your not gonna take it one or two times, your gonna take it untill you feel better.

Everyone should just come out and admit they used it. It was legal when most of them used it anyway. I am waiting for a player to answer with this:

"Yes I did use it. I used it to get back from my injury. I wanted to get back with my team as soon as I could and it was the fastest alternative. I did it because it was legal when I did it."

But then again I will be waiting a while before anyone says something like that.

I was listening to the Jim Rome show...as I do everyday :)

A guy called in and said I have done hgh and its the same as any other steroid actually better....He said I took it to get over a injury and he said he had to take it for like 2 months before he could notice a difference in his injury... The guy went on to say its BS for those players to say they only took it for a couple days or times....

As for some player owning up to what he did......I think it will be a while for that one....BUt I can't wait to hear it :):)

1. his good buddy A.Pettitte came out and said he did them.

2. His trainer has ratted him out......

3. He has just finally said anything about it...

4. his name is in the Mitchel report MANY MANY times

Why do they think its legal? Do they think MLB rules trumps real laws??? I bet there is only a hand full of good players in the league that havent done it.

Its a joke!!!! Just test the crap out of them and lets move on.

Actually HGH is legal. It must be prescribed and is apparently only used under fairly narrow guidelines, such as children with growth issues and older people for quicker healing from surgery and such. If players were taking it before it was against MLB rules and it was legally prescribed, i personally don't see the big deal. It's just a game. My life doesn't turn on who is doing what in professional sports. I will still be watching when the season starts in April. Just my $.02
