Are there any mountain bikers out there?

I will be heading to Wellston, MI for the Lumberjack 100 in June, this is a 100 mile mountain bike race. I was wondering if anyone out there rides also. Is there anyone from that area? If so do you recommend a place to stay? I have a list of cabins and motels and I am checking rates right now.
