Being conservative and liberal? I take it the Republicans are conservative (mostly southern i guess) and democrats are liberal?

Im just wondering what i'd be but i dont know much about US politics, from what i gather religion plays a big part in it unlike here we choose on a basis of what person can do to better our country.

Post will likely get moved.... But Conservatives generaly have a strong belief that the people shall govern the people. Government shall not control the freedoms granted us in the Constitution. We have strong morals. I wouldn't go so far as to say religion plays a big part, however most the conservative right wing are god fearing people who look to the bible for moral guidance. The biggest difference you could say is that liberals are continualy wanting to make changes to the constitution, that would give government more power over the masses, Libs want to tell Americans what rights and freedoms they have, instead of reading the Constitution. Conservatives want to "conserve" what this country stands for and those "Certain unalienable Rights" scribed so many years ago. I didn't go into detail but thats about it in a nut shell.

yep, good post.

I would cetainly say I'm conservative, and I wouldn't vote for anything other than a Christian, God fearing man. I don't care about baptist, methodist etc so long as they are Christian.

I also want to vote for someone that doesn't want to re-write the constitution to suit their agenda.

I can go on here, but I'll spare you, lol

i'll add to a great post. liberals want the government to controll lives... such as health care for everyone, regulate everything, and tax all producers into paying for everything. it's a share the wealth mentality, where big business is bad and must be controlled by the government. you've heard how terrible big oil is, and haliburton, and bill gates with microsoft (they actually sued gates in the clinton administration for having a monopoly. cost him billions. and apple is a good non monopoly example of why he should have won).

conservatives like free enterprise, less government controll, less taxes. conservatives generally run small businesses and feel people should make their own decisions, right or wrong. america is a very giving country, mostly because of free people. it is usually free enterprise that creates a new product. if that product sells, the individual wants to get rich and live the good life. liberals think that if the same product sells, the government should get the money and everyone can share in the wealth.

if you read the marx doctrine, it is EXACTLY what you are hearing from the democratic leaders. socialism.

conservatives are just the opposite.

I would have to say that im conservative then.

Also, I would say we have more of a social security net here if you lose your job here you can get help unlike in the US. I have a friend who lives in San Antonio, TX.

Conservatives-Personal responsibility

Liberal-Everyone with a really good excuse gets a hand out.

Conservatives- Indivuals and groups help the needy with their own money.

Liberals-Tax you so that they can help the needy with your money.

Conservatives-Nuclear family is most important

Liberal-broken families can be the norm.

Coservatives-If buisness is doing well we all do well.

Liberal-Tax the big buisness and pay the poor with it.

Coservatives-The constitution was literal and should be enforced.

Liberals-The constitution is liquid and up for constant "interpritation"

Hmm theres some things I support like more women getting equal pay and involved in different kinds of working enviroments as here I get equal pay and believe in that because to say that a man should get more than a woman is utter bull. That just really irritates me and I know the US believes that women are lesser.

Abortion it depends but it should be early on as I was born 6 months early and i was perfect it sickens me to know that the US is more lax than the UK with abortion regulations.

I have no problems with homosexuals etc as long as they dont interfere with my life or harm me.

Everything else really is so so, I am mostly republican though.

I don't think women get paid less for the same job. Actually it's illigal. I think where things get sticky is that women are not in some of the higher paid jobs and in leadership positions. That being said, at my last job the 3 principals and superintendant were the 4 highest paid employees of our district. The elementary principal was the 2nd highest paid in the district under the Super. SHE made it well known.

The average wage of women in this country would probibly me much lower than the average wage of a man for the simple reason that there are a lot of stay at home moms that don't make any money. My wife has just as much education as me, but doesn't work outside the home. So our household income is probibly 50% less than most couples with the same education as us.

Women doing the same job in the same company as a man will make the same money as the man. We have payscales that go by experience, education and time the the company. The payscale doesn't see gender.

Ah I see, thats ok then. My boyfriend and I would both be working anyway, so im sure we'd have a good income?

My friend lives in San Antonio, TX (a ranch) and he said that property and cost of living is really low there compared to most US cities like Phoenix etc. Do you know why that is? I quite like the sound of that because I hate high taxes, our tax here is VAT (Value added tax) which is 12.5%

My state tax is $200 per month and my social security is $100 per month.

I kinda got luck with living 5 miles to the biggest airport in Scotland im $40 per month in fuel :p

My car is $200 per month, insurance was paid which was $500 for the year.

I take it in the US it would be cheaper to live?

You'll be hard pressed to find a car that will get you back and forth to work for $40 an month, insurance will be more and a car payment will probibly be a lot more. If I remember right, in the UK you get government loans for vehicles at very low intrest. Here you will be looking at probibly 8% or more if you get a standard loan. Don't know about taxes unless I knew your income (which I'm not going to ask), but texas dosn't have a state income tax.

Hi, its no big deal but i earn £16,000 per year.

Car companies actually give you finance on the car instead of paying up front. There is no interest, just the total amount that I owe for the car.

Is there any particular state that is expensive to live in because of taxes where the income doesn't meet the inflation, I know here our wages go up with inflation, its against the law not too because then the cost of living would be so high that there would be alot of poverty.

California, New Jersey, New York and Minnesota are HIGH tax states! These are the 4 I can think of right off the top of my head!:(

As to car loans, you will pay interest and it just depends on your credit rating as to where you can get the best interest rate!:(

Your credit rating is going to dictate your borrowing capacity and what kind of interest you are going to have to pay on any loan! Bad or no credit = HIGH INTEREST! Good credit = Good Interest Rates!
