slaw
Great reading, this one slipped by me like that big buck did this year. I'm glad i found it today though. The last day of the season seems so anti-climactic, cause I wait the rest of the time anxiously for that day to come when i can do it again. Yes , it's not abot the harvest, getting one is a bonus nowdays, I just like being there with my friends and family. thats how we mature into a different phaze of being a hunter. elkoholic
I am not sure if some of the old farts here in the forum take a more in depth look at the season(s) past, but I know I do. With a back headed down hill and poor genetics, I look at my outdoor adventures with some sense of urgency now for the number of years left is growing smaller and the memories made all that much sweeter. I truly appreciate the time spent with family and friends as we enjoyed the outdoors together. Sometimes we forget. Thanks again Randy. ruttinbuc
Good post. Randy! I can relate to those feelings as the season winds down. I look back at all the days afield this past year and see that it truly is a passion that only those who participate can understand.
Randy
After having an exceptional season this year In the "Family, Friends and the Great Outdoors" department, I thought I'd bring this TTT. I made another friend for life this year with doubleA coming to WI to hunt with me. It just doesn't get any better...

CampRAGS
Randy great post. As I sit on a blow down waiting on a deer to come into view I remember my dad who taught me how to hunt, how fortunate I was to be able to spend that time with him. How I lucky I have been to be able to pass the hunting tradition onto my son. As I hunted with my son yesterday I was watching him make his way through the woods, I saw how the student had become the teacher. That one day he will teach his child the way of the woods and what it means to be a deer hunter. For us this year the deer harvest has been less then what we are use to. The good times that have been shared are never lacking. Being able to hunt with family and friends, there is no better reward in life. There is always some sadness as yet another season comes to an end. But there will be future adventures and seasons, and good times to be shared. GWSmith
buckee said: It makes us realize how very small a part, "killing" actually plays in Hunting. There is so much more to it. I agree... It may have been the Deer Hunting that brought us together but it's sharing our lives with each other that means so much more. We've sometimes shared publicly and privately the things that have made us who we are. Our Beliefs,Hopes, and Dreams are able to sneak out from inside of us to other people helping make them a reality. At the same time some of our deepest held fears can be shared with someone who we've gained trust in over time and they help us get a better focus and a different perspective. I know for a fact that I've made friends here that I trust absolutely. People with a sense of fairness, ethics, and love of family that I respect and admire. I have talked to members here at times to share personal victory and devastation...I know my life is better for having been here and hope it continues. I remember the feeling I had when I finally clicked on the "Forums" link on the main RealTree page..."I wonder what this is going to be like"? I was willing to try it though simply to gain more knowledge and hopefully become a better hunter in the process. I could have never geussed in my wildest dreams how much better my experience of hunting and life in general would have become at that moment. It was the first time I had ever joined a forum in my life. I've wondered how I'd be living my life differently without having joined the forum here. It would have been different that's for sure...but not better! I know I could continue to search my heart in an attempt to describe what this place means to me...and I would still fail miserably to encompass it all! This place has taught me one of the most valuable lessons of all...Like the friendships we've made a share here... DEER SEASON NEVER ENDS

Dakota
Couldn't have said it better myself, Randy! It's all too true and I was one of those kids that has had physical problems and was able to have the priviledge to hunt with Steve and harvest a trophy to boot. Although I must correct you in one tiny detail. Though we may have some problems we are in no way disabled just faced with minor challenges and difficulties that can and have been overcomed by determination, spiritual strength and the help and support of friends and family. I don't know what we would have done without the overwhelming love and generosity of the people I am proud to call my family here on the forums. Excellent post, Randy!
