3whunt
Just wanted to let you guys know that my uncle has some land for lease in Push county near Honobia. Currently he has around 1,300 acres and he asks for $3.00 an acre. He sub-leases around 16,000 acres for a lawyer from Texas so he may have more available in the next few months depending on how many groups release. There are a lot of deer and turkeys. There are some hogs, but not an over abundance. There are also several bears and hopefully we will be able to hunt them in the not so distant future. You get year around access for pretty much anything you want to do on the land. When turkey/deer seasons aren't in you have access to the entire 16,000 for riding four wheelers, fishing, and camping. I know at least one member on here that leases from him, but I'll let him chime in if he wants to. My uncles email address is listed below. Thanks for looking, Dave [email protected]
Texan_Til_I_Die
I'm guessing that's way too far east to have any mule deer on it?

MCH
Also, like 3whunt said, according to the wildlife department, there may be a special bear season in Dec of 2008. Just for the Kiamichi Mountains where this lease is.

MCH
YW. I'll put the word out around here as well. Do you know the location of the 1,300 in relation to ours? We're around Dutchman road.
3whunt
The 1,300 acres is between Honobia and Talihina. It is on "H" trail. I think it is roughly 4-5 miles North West of Honobia. Someone has painted "H Trail" where you turn into the lease on the highway. I have never been on that section, but DG says it looks really good. Heck, everything I have seen looks awesome. On a side note... DG is trying to get an additional 5,000 acres leased just east of Ludlow (towards Octavia). That was our lease last year but it sold. If he can get it, him and some guys he knows are going to make it a bow hunt only lease/club. If they can get it and get enough people willing to bow hunt only, it would defenitely be the best of the best. He is also going to do DMAP on the entire 16,000. We saw entirely too many does with yearlings and fawns this year. In fact I didn't see a lonesome doe all year long.
Gator
If only these places were closer............

Anyway, you said "H" trail? Do you know if you take a left off 144 or a right?? The reason I'm asking is because the road we call "camp road" runs from Honobia creek road all the way to 144. Where it meets Honobia creek road meets "camp road" someone has painted a big "H" on a pine tree. And you would get to it by making a right on 144. We recently leased somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,100 to 1,300. Was just wondering if maybe the guys in charge of my lease had decided to let it go. 3whunt
You would take a right on H trail, or northeast depending on which way you are coming from. Sounds like camp road and H trail are the same road. Not sure about if they let it go or not or even if it is the same piece of land. Wish I knew more specifics. I will call DG tonight and try to pinpoint it down a little better.
Jeramie
Hey guys, what is the nearest town? ' Is this a year long lease? Season? Etc... I have NEVER hunted a lease. We have a fairly large ranch but the neighbors are ruining the hunting. Im interested but have no idea what to expect with a lease. Heading down for a overnight stay now and again may be a good time..... Help a lease rookie out with some indepth info.....
MCH
Jeramie, zoom out on this map and it should give you the general idea. Tulsa should be a little over 3 hours. Honobia, OK Heck, if you're interested Jeramie, we will probably have an opening our two on our lease. It ran me $466 last year, and although I've only hunted it 5 days this whole year, it was worth every penny. There are tons of creeks and 4-wheeler roads. Took my boy up there in August and had a blast. Plan on taking several family trips up there during the offseason for some quality family time/scouting. MCH
3whunt, I emailed DG. If you happen to hear from him before I do, PM me. Thanks
MCH
David, DG just returned my email. The lease is actually just south of ours. Dutchman Road is the South border of our East side and the 1,300 that is available is south of Dutchman. There is an excellent campsite on Honobia creek that is surrounded by a pipe fence and has plenty of room to turn larger campers around. 3whunt
Good deal. Glad DG got back to you so fast. DG has told me about that campsite. The owner just cleaned up about 15 acres of oaks that we camp under: probably not a good camp site because everytime we woke up/came back there were deer blowing at us. Jeramie, this place has it all. Any type of outdoor activity you could dream of man. You would not regret the drive. I live in Denton, Tx and drive 3.5 hours one way. It is worth it. We have several family trips planned as well. The smallmouth bass fishing on Honobia Creek is supposed to be awesome, according to the locals. There is a ton of deer and turkey. It is extremely isolated from any major town, but there are several little stores within a 5 miles of the lease for supplies. If you do get in, YOU WILL LOVE IT. MCH
The only negative I can find with the place is that you can't get a cell phone signal that well. There are only two spots on our whole 5,500 acres that you can get any reception.
Jeramie
So how does this typically work? Do you lease all 1200acres? Is that price per hunter, etc?
Jeramie
Never mind... I actually just maped it. I live in Locust Grove and work in Tulsa. From the house its roughly 4-hours. From their site: Total Est. Time: 3 hours, 59 minutes Total Est. Distance: 212.17 miles Thats a little to far.....
