AJ
Hi guys Getting ready for our 4th annual pheasant hunt and sporting clays shoot this weekend (15th). We shoot a couple rounds of sporting clays to warm up and after lunch hit the fields to shoot some pheasants and some chuckars. Yeah it is a preserve hunt, but the birds still fly and have to be knocked down. This year will have forum members, WABS, Broadside, and myself as a team. Its not looking good for the birds, even with Broadside on our team.

WABS
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Looking forward to Saturday -- looks like it will be nice and brisk (20s - 30s). What's the scheduled start time for the sporting clays?? Bring coffee!!
too_pointer
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Man, that sounds like a awful good time. AJ, see if you can get a pic or two of you guys and your birds. I went on a preserve hunt last fall and had a riot too_pointer
WABS
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt We'd do a lot better if AJ could shoot just a little. I have to stand next to him even during sporting clays and back him up. I do the best that I can...:-)

AJ
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Yeah what can I say. So it was not my best day at the range. I forgot who had the highest score? I will probably be carrying my Charles Daly Empire Sporting Clay gun. It will be setup with improved cylinder for the lower barrel (first shot) and full for the upper barrel. It will be fed with 1.125 oz of #7.5 shot for the first shot and 1.125 oz of #6 for the second shot. We will definately have pics but I don't expect the action photos like last year. WABS
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt OK, the reason you always beat me is because you're the host... For those of you out there that don't get the opportunity to shoot with AJ you have to know that he's not bad....OK he's pretty darn good. We'll see you Saturday AJ -- what time are we getting together?
carbonhunter
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Nice gun there AJ, interesting choke selection.
AJ
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Plan on meeting at the clays range at 08:00. Bring the long johns. Its going to be a little chilly. The weather channel is calling for Partly Cloudy 33°/16° . That's an improvement over last year. It was 8° most of the day. Brrrrrrrr. AJ
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Hi again, We just got back from our hunt/shoot combination day. It was a blast! We shot 100 sporting clays in the morning, had lunch, and went hunting for a few hours. We took most of our pheasants (19/20)and all the chuckers (5/5). We had a great time with some good shooting, friendly bantering, watching good dogs work, and camaraderie of friends. If any of you get the chance to hunt or shoot with WABS or Broadside, jump at the chance. They are great guys and sportsmen. Will post a pic later. AJ
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Here is a pic from our hunt. Left to right are AJ, Broadside, WABS, and a non computer using individual. There is a pile of pheasants and chucker in the foreground. This was about 1/2 way through the hunt. too_pointer
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Glad you had a great time and congrats on the birds. AJ, your replies lately are huge, they cover 2 screens, it there a way for you to shorten the length so we don't have to scroll so much back and forth to read them ? They just don't fit the screen like they used too. I see when I reply to you it takes on the same size as yours. Thanks too_
AJ
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt Its that way because Charles Daly only allows full pics of their guns to be huge. If Brownie can edit posting with the o/u pic in it to remove the image, it will be a normal post. I'll PM him.
too_pointer
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt O.K. AJ. I'm not a computer genious by along ways, I just thought you really loved your Charles Daly Oh by the way, did anyone tell you if you put on darker shades you look like Chris Dorsey LOL. You know him ?? too_

AJ
Re: 4th Annual Pheasant hunt [ QUOTE ] How do ya like those Muck boots for bird hunting AJ??? [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunately, they were a necessary part of the hunt. It rained like a big dog 2 days before our hunt and there were still parts that seemed like we were duck hunting instead of upland hunting. The cover was a little on the sparse side, but not too bad. Birds were still able to hold tight enough that we walked by them multiple times before the dogs caught their scent.
