Turkeygirl
Anyone have plans yet for what you are having for dinner Christmas Eve/Christmas Day? Mom was working on her list today...I think we are having ham for Christmas Eve and a smoked turkey(from the store:p) for Christmas Day. Sides will range from a jello dish with cottage cheese and pinapple in it to mash potatoes with smoked garlic from France in them. And we usually make a special cake for desert (Jesus' birthday cake:D) What about the rest of ya? Any special dishes you do on holidays? Guest Andrea
Christmas Eve we pig out on seafood. Raw oysters ( not me) crab, gumbo and shrimp. Christmas Day is traditional fare.....turkey, dressing, dumplins, creamed corn, peas, ham, venison, giblet gravy, etc etc.:)

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I do the cooking in this house...mostly because the parents are to busy or tired to do it. For Christmas, my aunt and unlce and 4 cousins that live nearby usually come over. We have christmas dinner a few days late though becauase they spend most of the christmas day at my uncles parents house. This year we are having Cornish hens...10 of em to be exact, on for each of us ....stuffing, mashed potatoes, some veggies (haven't decided which ones yet) dinner rolls, may add a few more things to. i'll also be baking a pie, not sure what kind yet though. matq2gs
We had dinner at our house on Christmas day. MY mom usually has it every year because that is her thing. My dad had a mini stroke on Dec 3rd and I told her we would have it at my house. She was crying because this is the first year in 50 years she hasn't had it. Dad is doing alot better and the dinner was great having everybody there. Happy New Year to all.
Guest Lauri Jo
Well, we had fresh ham on Christmas eve, stuffing, sweet potatoes, loaded mashed potatoes, rolls, cauliflower, gravy, asparagus. Then Christmas day we had our usual Italian feast of stuffed shells, baked ziti, chicken scampi and Italian sausage. We don't do "traditional" meals on Christmas because it is my birthday that day and my mom has always made me ziti. It's the one meal I have requested for as long as I can remember-and man is it GOOD!!! (Think of cousin Eddie in Christmas Vacation-at the dinner table when he says "Well, I don't know about anyone else, but it is gooooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddd (good). Anyways, if your haven't ever had baked ziti-I highly recommend it but only at a really good Italian restaurant (since you can't have my mom's-LOL).
