Hoosierbuck
We have a two week gun season, and a two week muzzle season, so I am split between my .45 Knight ML and my .500 Smith Encore Rifle. I just like to be a tad off the norm. No offense, Norm! HB

I don't use a rifle or a shotgun. Stick with the bow, that's real hunting.....Just kidding.....LOL:D
terry264
Have used the .264 win. mag. for about 25-30 yrs. now. Results are that the deer is usually standing in the last tracks he/she ever makes. What few have moved at all after the shot never got more than a stones throw away from where they were hit. Dozens of deer for the sample lot. Also, I handload the Sierra 140 gr. Gameking for all my shooting.
Gus
Neither one of the calibers I use is listed in your choice. The two guns that I take are either a Howa 1500 in 22-250 or the new AR15 in .223 caliber

TexasDeerHunter
Primarily I use a .223, and secondly a 30-06 up North. My back-up that see's little use is a .260.

bluelund79
For me it has been the 30.06 Springfield. However, I now hunt in a shotgun zone for the better part of the season so I have to add the 12 gauge sabot slug as well. I also was fortunate enought o have a forgiving wife and purchased a new Marlin 30-30, a Mossberg 4x4 in 300 win mag, and a Ruger M77 in 25.06...Can't wait to be able to use those in some rifle zones here in WI and some trips out west for pronghorn and mulies! Not really Don, lot of us take a look back more than once to see where the results are, no telling how many times I have looked at this thread myself. Looks like the overwhelming favorite for deer is a .270:cool:

Canuck2
My favorite for the past 15 years or so has been my 7mm Rem mag; I 've use it for everything from pronghorns to moose. But there was a time the .270 was my favorite. And then there was the 30.06, which I loved until I shot and lost a deer with it. So I got rid of it - even though it was my fault, not the gun's:o
