Guest J-Daddy
For the people on here that shoot Bowhunter Class 3-D what setups are you packing in '08? Looks like I'll be shooting a Martin Slayer in '08, not sure on the sights "maybe the Sword 3rd plane Accu-Site", not sure on the arrows yet, Posten stabilizer & TrophyTaker fall away rest. arrow32
I'm not sure what class I'm going to end up shooting this year. I have to get my new seven thirtyseven so it will either be that or my 38 ultra. As far as the rest of the bow I know I'll use my Hoyt Dropaway and our hand made stabilizers. Not sure about anything else.
Tony
for you guys shooting BowHunter class, make sure you guys know all the regs. theres a point and fletching restriction for your arrows for most shoots. i believe that Bowhunter class you must have screw in points and nothing under 4 inch fletch. Gator
Is the 4" vanes an ASA rule for Bowhunter class? I sure hope not, and I don't think there is. I am shooting an '05 Switchback with a posten Stabilizer, Copper John Dead Nuts III Competition sight, TT Fall Away and Easton Fat Boy arrows. hutchies
Wayne our local shoots aren't by any sanctioned body. I think only the IBO has 4 inch vane rule and screw in points. I don't know of any IBO shoots around here. AMATEUR - ONE EVENT PER YEAR WITHOUT FULL ASA MEMBERSHIP. 1. Men’s Hunter 40 yards, 280 FPS This class is open to anyone who did not compete in Open A (or higher), win more than $200 in prize money in Unlimited or Open B, or win more than $400.00 in Hunter during their most recent year of ASA Pro/Am competition. All other amateur classes are eligible. Release, fixed pins with magnification allowed. Stabilizer Rule - A front stabilizer (or system including quick releases and/or enhancers) may be used, but may not exceed twelve inches (12”) in total length from the tip of the stabilizer (or system) to the point of attachment on the front of the riser provided by the manufacturer. A rear stabilizer or counter balance weight system may be used with a maximum of two extensions, but may not extend more than six inches (6”) in length as measured from either: (1) the point of attachment on the rear of 9 the riser provided by the manufacturer, or (2) if there is no rear point of attachment the system may not extend more than six inches (6”) beyond the back of the grip. 2. Men's Open C 40 yards, 280 FPS This class is reserved for first year ASA Pro/Am competitors, or those who won less than $300.00 in prize money in their most recent year of ASA Pro/Am competition in any class that competes at 40 yards or less. At any point during the season that a competitor in Open C earns more than $300.00 they are required to compete in their choice of Open B, Hunter, Limited or other higher class for the remainder of the season. No Shooter of the Year will be awarded in this class.

tedicast
Our local shoots only have a fixed pin sight, and 12" maximum stabilizer rule for Bowhunter class. My 07 set-up was a Mathews Drenalin, with a Vital Bow Gear Ultimate Drop, Viper predator Hunter sight, and a 10" Posten with a weight kit to make it 12". I am shooting Beman 9.3's with Blazers. For '08 I will be shooting a Blueberry Drenalin LD. It will have a NAP Smart Rest, A Viper Micro-Tune, and the same Posten stab for bowhunter. I'm also ordering a Sure-Loc Supreme, with a Viper scope, and a 24" Posten, to shoot Bowhunter Open at the clubs that have that class. When I get the LD set up for the open class, I will be shooting the 07 Dren in Bowhunter. Here is my '07 set-up...
Tony
Tony does the 4" fletch rule hold true for the local 3-d shoots here in Iowa? I'll be shooting Bowhunter class at them. sorry guys i should have said IBO shoots. we have mostly all IBOs here and very few ASA shoots. there are a few that go by the IBO rules. the Iowa games 3D, all of the IBO Heartland Triple crown shoots do also. all of the Mid iowa archers shoots in Indianola, i think Hickory Ridge in Pella also goes by IBO rules. so does Atlantic Iowa i believe. for those of us that shot the IBO Heartland Triple Crown in Bowhunter we had to have 4 inch fletch and screw in points. the Triple Crown is Omaha ( Golden Arrow archery club) St Joseph Mo and Atlantic Iowa. for most local shoots its not that important, you will find out if they follow IBO rules or just the local rules. i shoot open class now, so i dont have to worry about fletching and such. when i want to practice with my hunting gear, i just shoot for fun on those days. since i shoot blazer vanes on my hunting arrows, that would put me in the open class. i dont believe raccoon ridge in Stuart follows IBO and im sure there are a bunch of others. you will just have to explore and find out what shoots your going to go to. but 3d season is so far away right now. Indoor target is where most of us have our arrows pointed at right now. Shoot Strong Tony
