Squirrelhunter91
I plan on taking my bow out for these feathered Einsteins this May. I've shot four with the shotgun before and now I wanna get one with the bow. I just bought an Ameristep blind on ebay and now I just have to buy a stool or two along with a bow holder for inside the blind and I'm set. And of course, I have to add a few calls to the arsenal every year. If you plan on taking your bow out, post some pics of your setup. Bachflock
I am VERY tempted but honestly, I'm so out of practice it would be a long shot - no pun intended. Haven't completely decided against it but...
Strut10
Oh.......it's bound to happen some year. I doesn't matter to me how many I've shot with a gun.......I still love pulling the trigger on a big old swingin' beard. But I've always threatened to go stick one with my bow. And I did win a nice blind at this year's NWTF banquet.............

Hoyt03
I have a hard enough time here in PA with a gun I think I'll leave the bow at home.
lungbuster12point06
I only bowhunt for everything these days............have to get used to tag soup every now and then, but it's worth it in the end. Have used NAP Razorbacks the past couple years, might use the Gobbler Guillotines this year.

Born2Hunt
I would love to take the Drenalin out for a hunt but there is something about the big boom of my 835 that I love. I would have to say no again this year.

ranchand99
I like to get one or two down, and then try with my bow.Last year I took my first one with a bow.I didn't use a blind.I just patterened the birds. Here's the story. My friend Stan saw this bird in early April and asked me did I want to try a bird with my bow.I told him I was up for it.Stan had kept tabs on this bird for over a week, and I tried to get him on friday the 13th in april. I went right where he told me the bird was and he was there! He was a nice bird in the 18# range.I saw the direction he was traveling, and got in front of him.I got set up just in time to see him aproaching. He fed,and stood around.Easing my way.I had plenty of time to check out the estimated 10" beard and 1" spurs.I could have taken him a dozen times with my shotgun. I drew when he went behind a big oak. There was a little brush so I had to wait.He was within 8 steps when he noticed me.He started walking away flicking his wings one at the time, and giving me the over the shoulder look.(You know what that means).I admit I panicked, and thought I could squeeze my arrow between two small horizontal limbs.I had to take my shot right then!..lol..I clipped 5 feathers off of him at 10 steps as my arrow was deflected by a small branch. I should have waited.Sure he would have gotten away, but I educated him big time by slinging an arrow at him. I called Stan and he said "boy don't tell me you got him already".I had to tell my story of defeat.. I stayed out of the area for 2 weeks to let things calm down.He had moved to the other side of the road since I missed him,and he was staying there all the time.He never was seen again on the side of the road I missed him at.I checked on him periodically, and Stan kept check on him too.I tried to get him 3 times since the miss, and could never get close again.I always backed out when he looked nervous,or disappeared on me.For fear of spooking him again. On that day I woke up late, and checked the weather out.It had just rained in the area where he was so I struck out that way.Time I got there what do I see?Two gobblers, not just the big one,now there was a 2 year old with him.It was late season, and the toms were grouping back up. I saw what direction they were going and knew what to do.I sprung into action and after a good walk got into position.I watched both birds half-strutting as they tried to dry out their feathers. After almost an hour of watching them dry out.I got to thinking more about my position and decided to move to a different location.I found 2 bushes and got between them.I slowly broke little branches out of my way so I could get a clean shot with my bow. Finally after another 30 minutes the birds started my way. They went into a ditch and I could only see one of them near the top of the ditch, and it was the smaller of the 2.I was tucked behind my bush, and could see him through the branches. When he got about 15 steps I drew back, eased my body to the right so I could shoot between the 2 bushes, and when he got broadside at 12 steps I released. At first I thought I had missed but he started doing backflips, and I saw the arrow sticking out of him.I exploded out of the tree line and crossed the ditch as he went into the opposite tree line.I stood at the edge of the woods listening for him to move again.I heard nothing.I took a step in the tree line and there he was 8yds in.I walked up to him and finally laid hands on my first bow killed turkey. I wish I could have gotten the bigger of the 2 but I am not greedy.Late season, with a bow on public land..I'll take what I'm given.I hope everyone enjoys my story and can feel the excitement that comes along with a bow kill.I love my shotgun, but this is a whole other level.I am still going to be a shotgunner, but I will try with the bow again. Good thing is just the other day I was in the same area where the big one was,and I saw him again,so I am going after him this year.Priority #1.Funny thing is he still won't go to the side of the road where I missed him.I thought they don't have long memories... I am shooting a Diamond Victory with Carbon Maxx arrows and a 125gr Gobblergetter broadhead. It does major damage! The bird weighed 13lbs 2oz,has a 8 1/8" beard, and 3/4" spurs. Here is a pic. Good luck to you Squirrelhunter91,just find comfort in the thought that you could easily have taken the same bird with your gun,and don't feel defeated if you can't take him with a bow.Just keep at it.If it gets to the point where you just can't stand it any more,go get your shotgun, and knock a different bird down, then go back to the bow. It's kind of fun having a 1 on 1 challenge with a bird that has a brain the size of a quarter..They will whip you.. arrow32
I think I'm just going to try and nail my first turkey with a shotgun once again this year. But knowing me just since I love my dumb bows lol I will be taking it out. Were aloud two birds so maybe one with each? Joe sweet bow Ross is an amazing shooting bow. I almost bought one this summer but the DL didn't go out far enough they maxed at 31 for the ones I was looking at.

Mach1
I'd like to get one with my bow this year. We're scheduled to have a baby right in the middle of turkey season, but hopefully the little one will hold out long enough to give me time to get out and hunt at least early on. Here's my setup: Fred Bear Instinct, Carbon Express Terminator Lite Hunter arrows, Blazer vanes, Extreme RT900 sight, Whisker Biscuit rest, Rage broadheads, Sims vibration gear
HUNTINGMAN
I realy want to,I tell myself every year I am takeing my bow but end up takeing the ten guage. No more turkeys than are wher I hunt I have to go with the best odds for putting meat in the freezer.Maybe after I get the first one then I may try with my bow for the second.Bow hunting is by far my favorite way to hunt. RUTNSTRUT
Bow only for me also,I have shot so many with a shotgun that it's kinda routine. But everything is more fun to hunt with my Ross. I also call for a lot of friends and that is really the big rush for me. If I don't get a turkey it's no big deal. But if I fail to call one in for a friend I feel a little disapointed.

Ethan Givan
I will try to get my first one with my 870, then I will finish out the season with my bow. Shot my first turkey with a bow last year at 20 steps. I used my deer hunting broadheads. It didnt go 2 yards.
Guest turkeynutz64
I always save my last tag for the bow in every state I hunt! But unlike all the pics I am seeing I shoot bare bow with my recurve or my compound, more challanging to me! Cant blame the equipment for the misses either!! lol
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
yep, I'll be using my bow this year (only my second year turkey hunting). Should be a lot of fun here's what I am using
