Arrowslinger
Plan on hunting it the first time January 11 thru 14I know it is late and have not had time to scout, but local person sees deer an sign everywhere. How would you hunt it? I was thinking hang a stand just inside the woodline near a field each day and sit? That late would calling and or scents do any good? As you can imagine green is now gone, the small field to the left of the red dot (red dot is south) had some sort of greens planted last year? The bigger field to the left is now dead and standing corn, the two north are from just grass cuttings.I may be pushing my luck trying to squeeze in the last few days, but looking at it you can understand my excitment to get down there I have two plans: 1. Walk into the wind near the creek, find a crossing and walk back to hang a stand. Just go to it each day. 2. Hang a stand each day near fields inside the woodline and sit until dark. JoshM
I'd try the standing corn if there is any left they would be hitting that for food resources with winter here.
buckee
Yep, I'd say the standing corn is your best bet too. There are a few other locations of interest, that I see also, but I really think the standing corn would be your best bet. crazylegz70
Hey buddy I live in Illinois not far from pike county. Shoot me a PM and i can try to help you out. I would say Buckee and josh are dead on. I hunt standing corn during firearm season and i saw alot of deer even before all the snow.
crazylegz70
I just went ahead and photshopped this for ya. My personal preference would be the stand that is on the edge of the field maybe half way in between the creek and field. (bottom left) BE CAREFUL FOR WIND/NOISE

wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Think I would hang a couple. Definitely one along the creek where you see signs of a good crossing, and one along the edge of the field.
