JimT
My first batch of jerky is drying now. Figured I would try it with beef the first time using store bought seasoning packets. Let you know how it comes out tonight.

AJ
Re: Jerky... Cool! I did my first batches of ground jerkey this year. I bought a lot of processing tools this year. I got the grinder, mixer, jerkey slicer, jerkey blaster, oven jerkey racks, and stuffer. I too started with the commercial kits. It turned out great. A couple guys at work said they did not like ground jerkey until they tried mine. Easier to chew, has more flavor, and it is easier to process. The strips are the same size every time. wtnhunt
Re: Jerky... [ QUOTE ] I like the ground stuff better. Easier to chew..... [/ QUOTE ] Yep, same here Jim. The kids like it alot better ground up too. Wish I had a better jerky shooter though, have to refill ours a lot to fill all the trays. The packets walmart carries are pretty decent, but if you want a good packaged mix, try out hi mountain cures. Cabelas carries them. I cannot make the stuff fast enough.
