223 ammo

Look military caliber(5.56/.223) ammo is going through the roof. Look to pay somewhere like 15-25 cents per round.

Figure it out. War= ammo demand. Any ammo today is costly based just on the precious metals they are made with.

If you are looking just to blast away. I have had some decent results with that Wolf( Russian) steel cased 55gr FMJ. ammo in my AR's and Mini 14. Just for blasting and plinking. The steel case keeps the price down as opposed to brass cases on other rounds. That is if you do not intend to re load, then you'd want brass and non crimped military brass at that( or you'll need another tool to remove crimp).

If you want varmint accuracy take a look at Black Hills ammo. It is what I use when I hunt with the AR. The 50grain V Max load they offer is a incredible varmint bullet and shot well out of the 1:9 barrels. The Federal Premium soft point 55gr shoot well also.

Good Luck!

Try ultramax. They have a 52 grn match hp that shoots real well for me costs about $19.00 for 50. A lot of people like blue box Black Hills ammo but it can be difficult to find. It runs a little bit more than ultra max.

Winchester has a white box 45 grn hollow that would be worth a look and I geuss Remmy has a 45 grn hollow thats a bit cheaper as well.

Thats as cheap as I'll go. I won't shoot Wolf ammo but some guys like it. They have laquer coated steel casings and I just don't want to use that in my AR.
