nativetexan
Jeez...Another dumb law that is a waste of time. And just how do they plan on enforcing this? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,318669,00.html
buckee
New Jersey Bans Sex Offenders From Using Internet Convicted sex offenders will have to submit to periodic, unannounced examinations of their computer equipment and install equipment on their computers so their use can be monitored. HUH ?? If they are banned from using the internet, then why would they even have a computer ?? ..LOL First they say they are banned and then they say they will be monitored Besides...How do you ban anyone from using the internet ? They have Libraries , and internet cafe's everywhere.

wtnhunt
Can understand where the intent of this measure is good, but pretty lame to believe that these cons will abide.
nativetexan
The way I see it is this. You cannot stop someone from using the internet. It is already illegal for a convicted sex offender to view in an inappropriate manner, or go/live near areas where minors may congregate (schools, parks, etc.). WHY does New Jersey need a new law redefining an existing one? Stopping a sex offender from getting on the internet is like telling a career criminal he can't have a gun. He is going to get one anyway, much like a sex offender will get on the internet at some point. Ridiculous waste of paperwork, red tape, and taxpayer dollars to update law books. New Jersey's attempt at more "feel good" legislation.
