Neither are spineless liar coaches...guess 'Bama didn't get that memo when they hired Saban ey?:D

He did lead them to an above .500 season though, didn't he? I don't know for sure since they're not in a bowl game. Oh, my bad, the 6-6 Tide is playing in the Independence Bowl.:D:D Ah....the tradition....

Actually, when was the last time 'Bama was relevant anyway? 1970 what?? Let's face facts here...if it wasn't for the tailgating, they wouldn't even have a team anymore.

1992 National Champs I believe, but I'm a Vols fan so blast Bama/Saban all you want. However, having said that, the proofs in the pudding. The SEC sent 9 teams to bowl games and is more than likely going to go 7-2. I don't care how you slice it thats strong and much better than in years past.

and LSU has put more pros in general into the NFL since 2oo2 than your entire confrence!!

Really? I had a spare minute at lunch just now, and according to CBS sports, LSU currently has 44 players in the NFL. Ohio State alone has 56. I don't have time to track "since 2002," but I highly doubt your stat.

atta boy.:cool::D

I'll cheer on the big ten in any bowl game ;) even the spartans and i dispise them (good thing they don't go to one very often:D)

but i'm not just picking the buckeyes because they are in the big ten, I honestly think people are thinking this is going to be all LSU in this game and they are in for a rude awakening, this isn't the same OSU team as last year, and have thought almost all year that they were better, they'll come to play, and if the wolverines can go into florida, basically on their own turf, and win, i have no doubt the buckeyes can.:)

my prediction...Ohio State "shocks the world":rolleyes: and wins by 10...

It would be a shock if Ohio State wins, let alone by 10. I really hope it is that close though, I want it to be a good game to watch..... Like OSU getting crushed wouldn't be fun to watch....what was I thinking. I hope it's a friggin blow out!

You need to remove those rose-colored SEC glasses bud so you can see reality.

(btw- removing them also might help you to see clearly enough to realize that your girlfriend is also your sister...what am I thinking...you already knew that...;):D).

I'm out! Have a nice weekend "y'all." I'll be back around these parts Monday to make sure 'ole Dukey hasn't vanished.:D Again, what am I thinking...that will happen Tuesday after the drubbing the Buckeyes throw down on the swamp cats.

Muggsy makes great points. The only losses that Ohio State has suffered the last couple of years has came from teams who use a spread offense. LSU is not a spread offense.

As for the 0-8 vs SEC stat, allow me to help muggsy out. Michigan was 5-1 in their last 6 games vs the SEC but no one thought they would beat florida. I did not see anyone throwing that stat out there before the Michigan game. They all just figured, "SEC is better than the BIG 10 so Florida must win"

I believe someone has mentioned it before, but Tennessee, which was in the SEC championship game, barely got past a middle of the BIG 10 Wisconsin team.

Being a hardcore Michigan fan I will be rooting for the Buckeyes. I believe Ohio State will win and probably by 10.

Gameday is finally here!

Hopefully this will be a better matchup than some of the other bowl games.

I think LSU will limit Matt Flynn's running, which may end up hurting the Bayou Bengels. Perriloux will come in to mix things up if Flynn isn't getting it done. He runs the ball about as well as Flynn, but don't underestimate his throwing abilities.

Boeckman has thrown a few interceptions in his last couple games, so the Tigers D-line needs to put some pressure on him. I think LSU's secondary will shut down the receivers from OSU either way.

Early Doucet will be a key player on offense for the Tigers. Look for some big plays from him. If OSU worries too muck with him, Byrd will be the go-to guy.

They both have big running backs that can pound out yardage, so whoever is winning the battle up front will have the advantage. LSU is deeper with backs, so they will always have a fresh man in the game. They'll need to keep Gholston out of the backfield, though. The o-line is probably LSU's weekest link.

The defensive line from LSU, however, will give OSU fits.

Whoever dominates up front will have the advantage running the ball, which will open up the passing game. I don't think OSU can match the downfield speed of the LSU receivers.

This one may be decided by coaching. Tressel has proven he can win, but will he have them ready this year? Miles seems to step it up a notch at crunch time, and will gamble a lot.

As with all college games, it will be whoever shows up ready to play.

Geaux Tigers!!

Good points DSGB, pretty good breakdown of the realities of this game.

Honestly, I think the Buckeyes have the edge in most positions, I'd give LSU the edge in Dline, and WR- but the Buckeyes are close. That doesn't mean the Buckeyes have a huge advantage or anything, especially since they're really the playing in LSU's backyard.

It should be a good one. I heard Tressel was quoted as saying he'd bring in Antonio Henton at QB to mix things up. I'd be surprised if that happens though, I think he might just be throwing that out there to give Les Miles something else to think about.

As far as your Doucet point goes, I think the Jenkins vs. Doucet matchup is going to be a huge key to this game. Those are both 1st round NFLers- so it's going to be interesting to watch. I give the edge to Doucet though, hopefullly they double him.

The biggest matchup in this game is simply LSU's d-line vs OSU's o-line. If OSU can't handle those beasts upfront LSU will be holding the trophy at the end of the game.;)

Outside of Dorsey- what "beasts" do you speak of?

btw- the best pass rusher in this game is Gholston.;) I'm more worried about Dorsey shutting down the middle of our run attack then guy's gettting to Boeckman.
