Wimpy Posted December 28, 2007 Report Share Posted December 28, 2007 Yesterday was the opening of muzzleloader here in Ohio. I got into the blind about 3:00 p.m. I saw nothing but squirrells and turkey until almost 5 when the first deer appeared. It was about 150 yds. away. Looking at it through the binos I noticed it was a buck that had 5 points on his left and his right side was busted off. A few minutes later the second buck appeared and stood motionless for a good five minutes. Finally he started making his way toward the creek and crossed into the field I was hunting. He started feeding facing right at me so I waited 10 more minutes on him to turn broadside, while I was waiting I said a little prayer. Finally when he turned I let him have it and dropped him in his tracks. It was an 85 yd. shot with open sights using my new CVA Optima with Powerbelts and 100 grains of 777.
