Question about arrow length

I got news arrows for christmas but the problem is that they are 2 inches longer than they should be. How would the flight of the arrow be affected if I shoot these. Am I going to see much of a difference?

Do it the right way...get your draw length measured, and have the arrows cut to your length..

Better too long then too short. You can cut them down. Just need new inserts.

I knew I could get them cut down..but I just wasn't sure what to do for the time being. Thanks for the help guys. I told my mom the right length and then she ordered the wrong ones...

yea get your correct lentgh and cut them inch longer to allow broadhead clearance

Take one of your old arrows with you to have the new ones cut down or just measure from the end of the nock and remember that measurement to tell the person who is cutting them down.

Now as far as shooting them, you'll slow down on the speed about 7-8 fps (3-4 fps for every inch of shaft or 8-10 grains) and them being longer will not hurt, unless it makes your arrows under spined. Shoot a few arrows and check out the arrow flight. If they look like a wiggle worm going down through there, save face and time; take them to the pro shop and have them cut to length.
