wtnhunt
Have 3 soon to be 4 p41 setups and a p32. Have an s600 that was going to go in a build, but have some issues with the cam, was an "as is" buy off ebay the lcd quit working on it so I have not been in any hurry. Have not attempted the fine soldering on the cam itself yet either, hope to get into it better after season closes. The p41's make great cams, most of the pics I post in here are from p41 setups. Would look at jesseshunting and at pixcontroller's tutorials. Pretty good information available there. If you plan on buying anything from pix, they are quitting selling boards and parts come mid January, I dont use their stuff anymore anyways as it is overpriced. Using yeti cam boards now for my future builds, been happy with them.

Gus
I know Gus has made plenty of these.. If you have any questions I'm sure she would be happy to help answer them.. I have made a few cameras. All the ones I have made use the Sony P41 camera. The first few I built with the BG1 board (from Hags House) but that motion board is not made anymore, the last couple I built I used the Snapshot Sniper motion board. I have another P41 camera sitting here now which I will make in the next month or so that I am also going to use the Snapshot Sniper board. Gus
SOULD I BUY A KIT FOR MY FIRST ONE? I've got a olympus 370 Never messed with any of the olympus cameras, so I am not sure how hard or easy they are to work with. The P41 cameras are easy to modify. Click on the following link and scroll down a little and you can check out how to do a few of the cameras that can be used. http://snapshotsniper.com/TechInfo.htm I wouldn't say that you should buy a kit, but I would say that you should read some on the different sites that have the instructions and then you could decide which you think would be the best for you to do. The sites I look at are http://hagshouse.com/forums/index.php?act=index http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/index.php?act=idx http://snapshotsniper.com/ There are a few other sites listed above that I see people metion on other sites, I am sure they have good info also, just never used them myself. Good luck, once you build one, you will be hooked and have to build another

wtnhunt
Good luck with the s600. Dont think I would have opted for that cam for a first build. You can buy kits or buy the parts seperately. The s600 will take great pics, but due to that cam not being a fixed focus cam, it is not going to be as fast as the p41.

Yeticam has a board for the S600 know that you can fix the focus to make it as fast as the p41 which will make everyone happy. The p41 are hard to fined. The p41 are hard to fined. The s600 you can disable the shutter door, but it still will have to focus. A lot of guys really like them in cams, I have one I had intended to build, and probably still will eventually. The p41's are hard to come by, but if you are patient you can run up on deals on them. Sometimes it is just all about the checking at just the right time:rolleyes:.
IowaDeerHunter
You can check: http://www.whitetailsupply.com/ or sign up here...great guys here who just love to help out: http://realdealhuntingchat.invisionzone.com/index.php? Real Deal is a great site. Along with Hags. I would join both forums and you would be set. More than enough people willing to help out. But as far as making a camera goes, I would start with a P32....great camera, easy to hack, and fairly cheap compared to a P41....rougly $80 shipped. As for a board I personally have only tried the XLP and Snapshot sniper board. I absolutely prefer and love the SS board. The LCD screen is worth it to me and they are both the same price. When building I just seemed to have better luck with this board. You can find all this info and more on these websites.....there are many tutorials out there that will help also. But if needed do not be afraid to ask here, I think there are a few that use homebrew cameras. Good luck!
