Just got a call from Tim! He said that he had come in to grab a bite of lunch and was getting ready to head out for the afternoon hunt. He also said that he hopes he didn't mess up by not shooting that 130-135 inch buck yesterday. He said that the landowner had said that he had seen more. He also said it was just amazing to see the bucks. He hunts until Monday afternoon. He was also fixing to head back out for the afternoon hunt.

Update

Tim called me while I was grocery shopping tonight, so I hope I didn't forget anything important. :D

Tim is not happy tonight.

He had a 145 - 150 class buck come out, at around 100 yrds away, ....BUT...He couldn't get a shot at it from the window he was set up in, in the blind, and the cameraman couldn't get it on film either. So they shuffled around, and managed to get set up in another window.

He took the shot, ..................and heard........."PING"..like a metallic sound.

The buck just stood there for a minute, trying to figure out what all the commotion was, ...unscathed. The buck turned, and went back into the woods.

Tim didn't reload right away, because the buck was gone now, and they sat there trying to figure out what happened.

Then it dawned on them, that there was a metal fence-post, not 10 ft from the blind, and he didn't see it in his scope.Like I said....he's not a happy camper, but he's taking it like a man, with only a few tears running down his face. :(:)

Then to top it off, the same buck comes back out, right at last legal light, at around 150 yrds. Tim gets reloaded, and then realizes it is too late to shoot, and passes on the shot. (kudos Tim )

He ain't going to sleep too well tonight, but I told him to keep his chin up.

He has 3 more days left, and I have a good feeling, he's going to see ither that buck again, or an even bigger one.

They saw 20+ deer this morning and around 25 this afternoon and evening, with lots of smaller bucks.

His exact words in a text message to me Steve!

"Well, what can I say........Bill Jordan is known for the barb wire buck, now Tim Andrus is known for the fence post buck. Buckee has the info. Going to try again tomorrow."

Funny thing is that I watched a tivo'd episode of Realtree Outdoors this afternoon that had Bill and the barbed wire buck. Too crazy!

Hope you get him tomorrow Tim!

Text to Tim from me:

"What is the Boone and Crockett score of the fence post you hit tonight."

Reply from Tim:

"They are not recognized by Boone and Crockett .... but they are by the F.F.A hehe ... Like I said the fence post buck by Tim Andrus .... I hope he shows tommorow night."

Thought that was funny and would post it.

Tim Texted me earlier today. I just got home from work. At 11 am Tim called it a morning. He saw 20-25 Deer. 6 were bucks, none were shooters and even if they were shooters all of them were out of range. He went back out at 2pm. When he sends me another update i will add on to this post.

I wonder what happened today ? I haven't heard a word.

He said that one other guy that was there saw a nice one this morning. He said that he didn't see a shooter this afternoon. He is sitting on a 200 acre corn field that borders a national park. He said that he thought that they had a doe day on the national park and that might have had some of the deer messed up.
