LifeNRA
They say for good luck, the first day of the new year. You should have pork and sauerkraut. Although I am not much of a fan of this dish, today I will admit it was darn good! Anybody else have this today?

Tominator
I just got done porking out, on beef!! Why anyone would eat that rotten cabbage they call sauerkraut, I will never know. :D It's not rotten, it's pickled. Yep, filled the slow cooker around 8 this morning. I think that's a German tradition, don't really know, but my mom used to always make us eat it when we were kids. Depending on the cut of pork, sometimes I loved it, sometimes I hated it. The wife got a cut that was super lean. It was very good! I told her that if she makes it again to make sure she gets that same piece! Shaun_300
Can't say I had either, and you wouldn't catch me ever eating sauerkraut, that stuff is nasty!
Alisha
No pork and sauerkraut for us here either. I love some sauerkraut but my tummy doesn't agree with it. Instead, I made cabbage rolls today and used ground deer meat instead of ground hamburger! Talk about gooooooood!
NS whitetail
 I can't even stand the smell of sauerkraut :o:o tradition for me on New Years Day is creamed lobster on toast and french fries
Guest Andrea
We always eat black eyed peas. Big pot of it and a dime is thrown into it while cooking. Whoever gets the dime has good luck all year. ( We don't really believe that but it sure helps getting the kids to eat)

TreeStandBowHunter
Pork and Saurkraut is a big Pennsylvania thing especially in the Lebanon County area. We have always had that meal on New Years Day when I was growing up and have implemented that tradition into our house as well. But then again, we have that meal about once a month too:D
