Talk about valuable

As you'll recall, my great grandfather passed away last March at 100 years old. Afterward, the whole family cherry picked some of his belongings that meant something to us. I got his cane and his favorite hat and put them up for safe keeping.

Well, today my mom gave me something that can never be topped. It was a CD with no writing on it. She told me the story. In 2001, at age 94, my grandmother's husband sat down with granddad and a tape recorder. My mom had a friend transfer the audio to a CD. He gave his life story with amazing detail. He remembered every little detail from the price of his first car and the salesman's name.

The coolest part, though- he was a barber by trade, for over 60 years and was a staple in the community where he lived and worked. There was a write-up in a local paper when he was retiring and at the party an old man nobody knew walked through the door. Turns out he had flown in from Phoenix to get a hair cut. He was granddad's first customer when he moved from Anniston, Al to Atlanta and wanted to be his last. I thought that was pretty cool.

He also cut the hair of 6 Atlanta mayors. I had no idea.
