Well, it's 7" brace height is pretty forgiving, as long as you don't have too much hand on the grip. 33" axle-to-axlw probably isn't ideal for target shooting, BUT there is hope. You've heard a lot of people say the Outback is a great shooter, even at long ranges, right? But it's only 31 1/2". The limbs get so parallel because the riser is so long, which makes the bow feel more like a 36" bow. The riser on my XTEC is approximately 22 1/2". The riser on the Switchback is 25 1/2". So, you get a short bow that handles like a longer bow. Will it shoot like a 38" or 40" bow. No. Can it shoot with a 36" bow. Yes. You might shoot the LX just for kicks. It was a very popular combo bow (36", 6 5/8" brace height, 317 FPS). But, I think the Switchback will work for target and 3D shooting also.

Why didn't you like the XTEC or VTEC? Thats ok though, that'll show a lot of new archers that you can't just say "I want this bow" and get it. I know you were really wanting the X or V, but you shot them and didn't like them.

I would be willing to bet why you didn't like the LX. Short brace height (very difficult bow for a newer archer to shoot) and the limbs aren't real parallel. I bet there is a noticable difference in hand shock from the LX to the Outback to the Switchback.

Funny you should mention the Outback Matt.....I just shot an indoor 3d with it because i hadn't decided on a target bow yet....so I just used my hunting rig.....and I was very pleased with how accurate I was in a "target setting", even though it is a shorter bow.................can't wait till my Switchback comes in...... smile.gif

Want to see a truely AWESOME looking Outback? Try this link. Too bad the Switchback isn't available in target colors.

It might be difficult to find something that would be an awesome combo bow. There are some out there, but then you looking at more target performance than hunting, hunting with a 40" axle-to-axle bow, etc.

I would say that if you seriously want to shoot 3D/Target competitively, you should get two entirely different bows. But, if you are looking for something just for fun, any bow will do fine and long as you keep good form and know what you can and can't do with that bow.
