how do you reset your computer on your truck?? had a fuel filter/ gel problem with my durmax but have it fixed and the check engine light stays on:confused::confused:

Hey Mike! The cause of your check engine light is more than likely the WIF sensor (Water In Fuel sensor) which is located in the bottom of your fuel filter. If it was tripped by your problem and you just got it fixed, the code will still stay in the PCM until it cycles enough times and sees proper operation to clear it. Try this, disconnect both of your battery cables. (The one near your washer fluid bottle) All you need is an 8mm or 5/16" wrench. Take off the negative one first, then the positive one, touch the cables together once their disconnected for about 10 seconds, this will drain any current in the electrical system and shut the PCM right down. Let it sit for another 5 minutes or so and then connect the battery back up. (First positive, then negative to prevent any spark shows) Fire up the truck and the light should be out.

Good luck!

Be a little careful here. The computer should be reset with the proper scan tool. ESPECIALLY if you have a theft lock radio. If you don't you can disconnect both batteries and hold the battery cables together IE: neg and Pos. to drain the risidual voltage. Make sure the key is off and removed.

If you have corrected the original problem, you should drive the vehicle normally for 60 to 80 miles and if the computer runs its self checks and all is well it will cycle and automatically reset itself. These mileages can vary with cold or hot temperatures, driving habits etc.

Some parts stores will reset the computer for you if you bought the parts there.

buy a Dodge :D:D:D

The problem is due to cold weather and not having your engine block plugged in to keep the diesel fuel warm and prevent it from gelling up. NOT a manufacturer problem. If I wanted a big fuel bill every month and a loud rattle trap engine with lesser power...I'd buy a Dodge Cummins.:D

worked like a charm fellas!! a million thanks:D:D and come to find out the station in town isnt buyin #1 diesel this year do to the high cost  sure wish he would have posted that on the pumps:mad::mad: i didnt have a problem all last year with #1 fuel.

Glad it worked for you Mike, figured it would unless there was an actual problem still with the truck. ;)

That makes sense about the diesel fuel not being good quality. I bet you got charged for the same amount as the good stuff though right?
