buckbuster11
....................you can still win Coach of the Year in the NFL. What does everybody think about this? The guy did go 16-0, but he also got caught cheating......this year!! NEW YORK -- Spygate be darned! Bill Belichick of the unbeaten New England Patriots is The Associated Press 2007 NFL Coach of the Year. With the Patriots motivated by a spying scandal -- and owning the deepest talent base in football -- Belichick guided his team to the first 16-0 regular season in league history. That was enough to offset the major blemish on Belichick's resume: a $500,000 personal fine, $250,000 fine for the team and the loss of a first-round pick in the upcoming draft after the Patriots were caught videotaping New York Jets coaches during the season opener. Spygate didn't stop 29 of the 50 voters on a nationwide panel of media members who cover the NFL from voting for Belichick on Thursday. In a season highlighted by many strong coaching performances, Belichick beat out Green Bay's Mike McCarthy, who received 15 votes for leading the Packers to a 13-3 record and the NFC North title. "This is definitely a team recognition, but one that I appreciate very much on a personal level," Belichick said in a statement issued by the club. He also won the award in 2003. muggs
I mean, it's hard to say a guy who goes 16-0 shouldn't win COTY...except in this case...:D
snapper
Heck, Jimmy Johnston and his crew chief got caught cheating how many different in the past two years and he won the championship both years...guess it does pay to cheat!!!!!! Guest Finn
Mike McCarthy should have won.....no one expected the Packers to go 13-3. Seeing the Pats go 16-0 was great, but not surprising.
toddyboman
Really the fact the Patriots were that good was not a suprise..... I don't think he should have won COTY...... Yes 16-0 is very impressive but that team is impressive.....Lots of good players. I thought some of the other coaches were more deserving..... McCarthy and what he did with the packers....Yeah how many thought they was going to be that good at the beginning of the season??? What about wade phillips....He kept TO from going crazy all year and kept Romeo in check... Del Rio in Jacksonville did a good job with that team.... But in the end Bill I'm a Cheater Belichick won...... I guess cheaters do win sometimes.
muggs
Romeo leading the Browns to 10-6 should have gotten him a few votes, a lot of people thought he'd be gone by week 6.

Tominator
They went 16-0. The league had to I guess.
VABuckSlayer
I'm by no means a Patriot fan (Cowboys thank you!) but I think this whole spygate crap is blown way out of proportion. Everyone video tapes games of there oponents. Did they go too far???? yea I guess. Nevertheless they didn't win 16 games because they spied on their opponents. They won 16 games because they have a **** of a football team. Now I'm looking forward to Dallas kicking their but in the Super Bowl! Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Although I don't thinks its bad that he won it (after all he did go 16-0), but they have been the super bowl favorites from the start. It should have gone to someone who's team came out of no where and had a good season, there are a hhandfull of teams that had way better season than they were expected to, packers, browns...and so on. should have went to one of their coaches i think
