Guest ExtremeSoloDubV
What is the best way to deal with the stumps left in the woods while clearing out for apple trees? I would like to bring in a tiller in the fall for food plots..... We began clearing today and the more we cut, the more apple trees we discovered! dogdoc
55 gallon drum with top and bottom cut out--soak stump in diesel then put drum over stump and light. There are products you can put on the stump that will help it rot quicker.

Tominator
I actually hack them out with shovel, maul and pick. Depends on how many you have I guess. I would think diesel would spoil the land around the stumps for a time. You could always rent a bobcat and just doze them, that would be fun. wtnhunt
Used the loader on the tractor to do all my clearing. Trees I could not push up or stumps, I had to dig up the sides and push them out.

I use those really long drill bites--like 10" long. Works great!

I had to cut the tree down before our power lines could be run in. I used my chain saw to cut lines in the stump so it would hold burned oil from oil changes. I poured the burned oil in the scars and holes that I had cut in, and burned it. Worked pretty well.
Guest MissouriHunter
I use Tordon RTU on my stumps. Squirt it on top of the stump along the cambrium which is the outer edge and it kills it pretty good.
