Ripper
Well, I am hearing a lot of trash talk from the OTPG. I am fairly new to the Realtree forums but I am curious, why a group of hunters dwell on size instead of performance. I would far rather use a cartridge that I feel comfortable with and can shoot accurately without concern, than shoot some super magnum that knocks my cup of cocoa out of my hands and shoots a bullet that field dresses my deer as it exits??? I know there are many closet SCOPE members out there. We may be in the minority but remember the majority of society beyond these forums, don't even hunt. Who wants to be in the majority? buckee
Hi Ripper, I am a SCOPE member, and proud of it. I like marshmallows in my cocoa too If I do put down my bow or shotgun for a rifle, my ol' 30-30 is all I need. Don't worry about the OTPGang . They a harmless bunch of little guys, with big guns
stevebeilgard
i don't know what scope is. but i do know what i like. i like a minimum caliber that hits where i want it to hit. i've used magnums, and have a couple. but for anything in the lower 48, i'll use my 270. put a good bullet into the breadbasket, and get out the knife. put a 375 h&h in just off target, and start tracking. OJR
SCOPE member here and will always be one! I gave up magnums years ago and went back to my 270, 308 and 30-06! Never missed the shoulder pounding crap one bit! Those other guys just like to blow smoke! LOL!!
nativetexan
Never really understood that myself...The need for more power I guess.
VermontHunter
All you little folks need to know is that there isn't a such thing as over kill .. ;) It's an OTPG thing and you wouldn't understand .. Listen kids don't do cocoa ..
Strut10
.....put a 375 h&h in just off target, and start tracking. Why would there be any reason to put a .375 bullet "in just off target"?? I don't get it.

007hunter
The OTPG is just trying to compensate for something... I myself own a few magnums, but I prefer to remain free from being tied down to any specific association
Rhino
Well, I am hearing a lot of trash talk from the OTPG. I am fairly new to the Realtree forums but I am curious, why a group of hunters dwell on size instead of performance. Since you're new you obviously missed your Scoper founder's thread that started it all. If memory serves it was titled "Mosquito with a cannon". BTW..we do dwell on performance and as a loyal OTPG member..yes, size does matter. I would far rather use a cartridge that I feel comfortable with and can shoot accurately without concern OTPG members can do that too. Common lies spread by Scopers. than shoot some super magnum that knocks my cup of cocoa out of my hands  and shoots a bullet that field dresses my deer as it exits??? More common lies spread by true scopers.

I borrowed my neighbors 338 mag one time to go on a whitetail hunt, on the mainland. I'll admit, that gun was awesome at the range;), but, I've always been an up close and personal kind of hunter, and stalk pretty silently through the woods. Well, the buck I shot was only a 50 yard shot, and I literally blew the poor puppies heart apart. There was nothing left but some mangled muscle pieces. The second deer was a doe, at 15 yrds, looking straight at me ...Hmmmmm. I knew if I went for the chest, I'd have a terrible internal mess to clean up, from stem to stern, so I went for her nose. I turned her poor pretty little head into a hand puppet Dead is dead, but gross is gross

Sounds like deep down inside of you somewhere there is an OTPG'er wanting to get out. Just step off the porch. :D:D

Pardon me for a little while, while I take all this fine non-blood shot deer meat to the processor from the buck I killed with my 30-378 Wby Mag. Saturday morning. :D No mess either...but sure will be some delicious sausage made from the front shoulders and hind quarters soon. BTW...enjoyed a delicious tenderloin last night too. The other along with the backstraps are in the freezer. Oh and took him to the taxidermist for a European mount after caping him out and got a $25 discount for the cape. You gotta know your OTPG weapon.
