brownie65
I took it out of my truck awhile back & leaned it against a tree in the backyard. I forgot it was there & we started getting all the rain , freezing rain, etc. then it got super cold for awhile. Well I saw it a few days ago & saw how it was against the tree, open ends up, I instantly panicked & figured it was ruined. I turned it over so no more water could get in it. Has been nice for a couple days, yesterday was my day off & I was doing some stuff in the backyard so I looked it over. The top part(seat part) is all swollen out at the crossbar. It isn't cracked just ballooned out. I got on Summits website was going to email them to see if I could buy just the top section. But couldn't find a email for them. Had a phone # so will call them. I might still try it, kind of scares me though being swollen up. My own fault.
MUDRUNNER
I'm pretty sure you can just purchase a top.I would've never thought that the water freezing in the tube would do that.
Tominator
Knowing Summit, I'd bet they replace it.
Ohiobucks
Send them an email explaining what happened, they might be willing to work with you. They replaced my stand within 2 days of their response to an email I had sent them about my stands top section failing a few years ago. Go here: http://www.summitstands.com/contactus/default Good luck!

Adjam5
Yup that bites:( I filled the hollows of my Summit Broadhead backpacker up with spray foam. Not only makes it quieter, but NO junk gets up in there. Summit is a great company. They'll work with you. Good Luck and let us know what happens! LifeNRA
I'm pretty sure you can just purchase a top.I would've never thought that the water freezing in the tube would do that. Its just aluminum, very soft compared to steel. Knowing Summit, I'd bet they replace it. They might! They got some great customer service!!! johnf
I've only delt with Summit once and that was quiet enough. Summit is the only stand I'll ever buy. I bet you get a good deal from them at the very least.

brownie65
update, Summit emailed me back & said we sell the top section on our website, you can buy it there. Price is $180. Great customer service, LOL. They sure didn't help me out . Think I will just buy a new one , might go back to a API Grand Slam Magnum Supreme. I do like the Summit cable system though. Probably will buy another Summit, just disappointed in their reply. I know it was my fault, still thought they might do something.

oldreloader
Sorry about your bad luck.I have done the same thing but was lucky enough not to have freezing weather when I did.Don't me angry with Summit though. This is directly from Summit's site on FAQ. Using your Summit Tree Stand Can I leave my stand outside when I am not using it? We do not recommend leaving stands outside for extended periods of time. If the stand tubing fills with water and freezes, it will split the tubing and damage the stand. Also, seats, ropes and straps are often destroyed by animals. This type of damage is not covered under our warranty.

HUNTINGMAN
Dont care much for the open parts on tree stands, they make to much noise and if it fills up in the yard what would happen to it if you are hunting in the nasty weather that gets the deer moveing.Dont think I would try useing it while it is bowed out,the aluminum will probably be weakend. Two words of advise,LONE WOLF.
