Rifle Brand HELP!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I bought a Ruger M77 last year, and now am not pleased with the how the bolt feeds. Seeing as this is my deer rifle, I'd like some help on trading it. I have narrowed the search to either the Weatherby Vanguard or the Tikka T3 Hunter. Has anybody got one or shot them? I really like how both fit and how the bolt feels when I work the action. Any pros and cons would be appreciated, thank you in advance, Eric

I've never owned a Weatherby, but I love my Tikka. You never hear anyone say anything negative about them. They're known for smooth bolt, crisp trigger, good value, and out of the box accuracy. Must be that Finnish craftsmanship!

I put a Nikon Monarch 3x9x40 on my 7mm Rem Mag Tikka T3 Lite, and it's just a sweet setup.

It's always hard to choose once you narrow it down, but if you buy the Tikka you won't be disappointed :)

BTW Learn all you can from that Leo guy - he knows his rifles and his Tikkas!

I appreciated the help so far. The local fish/hunt website I belong to also has ahd nothing but the Tikka so far also. I did some more poking around last night, and I really like the fact it has the detachable magazine as well. I'd be putting my Nikon Buckmaster that is on the Ruger onto the Tikka, plus the Tikka comes with rings and bases, I guess I am already talking myself into the Tikka as well. I guess its time to find the Tikka T3 Hunter in 25.06 blued/wood stock!!!! Gunbroker has a stainless/wood and my local Gander Mtn has one stainless/black composite...This time I will shop harder to find the exact one I want!!!! Again, thank you very much for help and advise. Guess I need to be here more often!

I know Tikka has a Great name...No doubt.

But Weatherby is no slouch either:D

The Vanguard I have was made by Miroku in Japan, the newer ones I beleive are made here in the USA.

My Vanguard, in 7mm Rem Mag will castrate a gnat at 100 yards:D, as long as I do my part. I got it at Walmart 7 years ago on a closeout for $299! The newer Vanguards come in MOA (minute of angle) certified. It happens that some of the Vanguards coming off the assembly line were printing MOA. Those are put to the side, identified as such and are getting a slightly higher price for them.

I would rather a Finnish rifle than a Japanese one. The Weatherby was the right price at the right time, and as it turns out... money well spent. No regrets.

You can't go wrong with either rifle.

Good Luck with your choice.

Gander Mtn located my TIKKA T3-HUNTER in PA. Just waiting on it to arrive. As for the the Mossberg Rifle, I couldn't agree more....I bought mine in 300 Win Mag. Back to the Tikka, my local GM is going to give me a pretty deal since I have bought alot of guns in the past year. Basically paying $150 difference w/my Ruger as trade. I think its a deal!
