Guest lilbuckmaster
Anybody really had any luck this year with the rabbits..I know we haven't seen a lot around here this year, so we haven't really shot as many as we usually do..Just thought I would see if anybody else is havin any luck. Tominator
Haven't even really tried yet. I reserve them for snowy days in February when deer season is over. I jumped 5 the other day in my field when I was out for pheasant. All easy shots, but I passed on them.

Guest lilbuckmaster
Yea.We seem to be seein fewer and fewer each year in certain places around here..I'm not sure as to why or what the problem is..Maybe it has to do with the fact that noone really hunts coyotes around here and we seem to have a lot of owls and hawks around. bluelund79
I have seen quite a few on the public hunting grounds this year while pheasant hunting. However my dad and I have strict rules on no ground shots while hunting with the labs. I am going out for some rabbits and squirrels this weekend, so at least I have starting spots. One of the cottontails I saw looked almost as big as my wifes Yorkie....That was one big rabbit!!!! Can't wait to get some stew meat! Rabbits go through up and down cycles very similar to that of the grouse. Your area could be on a down cycle. My area was probably at an all time high last year. One day I jumped about 9 rabbits in about 1/2 an hour on about 5 acres. The other day I jumped 4 in about 10 minutes.

Bachflock
We'll be going out on snowshoes in a couple of weeks. No dog, however. Might be tough but it'll be fun. Sure like to run into a squirrel or grouse as well!

turkeybuster
Sounds like you need to use a 12 gauge.
Tominator
Sounds like you need to use a 12 gauge. Or my trusty Benelli 20 gauge. Not that big on eating rabbits, so a few misses don't bother me.

Grabbed onto it..was a furry foot...Yanked out my lucky river rabbit!! (must of gotton swept away after falling in.).
