Guest pc154
Will a lot of shed hunting push deer out of an area??? Hunting season is over now and they have all dropped from what I can tell. Am I hurting my prime areas by shed hunting too often??

toddyboman
This is a good question...... I would first think like others that you will bump them out of an area and within the next 8 months or so they will be back......but couldn't you also bump them to a new and better area and they may NOT come back.... I really don't know, just thinking out loud.....
buckbuster11
I'm curious to more responses on this as well. I've only got into shed hunting the last couple of years but, I just cant get myself to invade any of the core areas around where I hunt even in the mid-winter. I don't know if I would be doing any harm there or not.
toddyboman
Ok. You guys that find hundred or close to a hundred every year whats your input on this.... :)
Randy
My thought would be, if you are in an area that is producing sheds, it is obviously a "buck hangout". So, if you bump out a few, either they will be back or other ones will move in. Unless you are wondering about a particular buck, I wouldn't worry about it to much, the natural pecking order will move bucks back to your area. hoytman26
I'm waiting till I know they all have dropped before I go out. I'll probrably go twice. If I dont find any after looking for 2 straight days, all day, oh well. I dont want to go too early because I'd be afraid the big one will run off and drop it on another property. Last week of feb or first week of march.
Guest CSRoth
I would say depending on the area you are looking weather to worry or not here in ohio were there is alot of pressure if your not there looking somebody else will be. The farms that i hunt there is alot of amish around and they dont care whos property it is they invade it, posted or not they dont care. I just go look the bucks seem to turn back up. starting in the spring there back to normal.
RackBlaster
I always see big bucks when i go shed hunting . They stay in this area most of the year until they are hard horned, then they start their journeys. Last year i seen the same 3 bucks 6 times when i was looking for there sheds. I never go in this sanctuary until February and look for sheds until about April then i stay out of there until next year. This coming weekend will be the first time since last year and i can't wait. I always carry my camera to get pics of any deer i jump while looking too.
Hound
I would say no it will not run the deer out.We found shed up till May last year and jumped bucks out of there bedding areas and the same bucks showed up in hunting season this year
deershed
My guess would be no.I've got multiple sheds off a couple buck for different years. One buck I've got his matched set 3 years in a row.The first set was completely away from where the second and third set were found. The second and third sets were found within yards of where they dropped the 2 different years. And I pounded that area each year putting alot of pressure of those deer.
