buckbuster11
........would Pete Carroll be this stupid???????? Hot off the presses..... USC coach Pete Carroll is interested in the Atlanta Falcons' head coach opening and is expected to speak with Atlanta owner Arthur Blank via phone Wednesday, sources at the American Football Coaches Convention in Anaheim told ESPN's Joe Schad. Blank is expected to offer full control of personnel decisions to Carroll and the sources said that is what peaks Carroll's interest most. Carroll is currently on vacation in Hawaii. Guest DIRTY DUKE
That's retarded that he would even think about it, but I'm a huge Falcons fan so retarded or not I hope it happens.

muggs
I think that would be a terrible move on both parts. One, why would he leave a place where blue chippers fall into his lap. Two, why in the world would the Falcons go back to a college coach after one just burned them? (This all without mentioning Carroll bombed out of the NFL once already). This won't happen. Honestly, I think the Falcons are having trouble finding big name options to fill the job so they trying to generate a buzz....no way this happens...if it does, it won't work. VABuckSlayer
I don't know what Carroll makes ($$$) at USC but I think he's a fool to leave. Especially for the Falcons job. There are better coaching oportunities in the NFL right now if he really wants to try it. Still, I think he has it made where he's at and should just stay put! Didn't Carroll fail twice? I thought he coached the JETS and Pats? Maybe not. Why would you go from Riches to Rags?? You have so much talent that kids transfer from your school and you want to go to a fifth rate pro team. You have a house on the BEACH and you want to move to Atlanta???? At least wait for Mike Nolan to get fired next year so you can stay in Sunny California.
toddyboman
Because he thinks he could the "the one" to make it work.... I heard he would have more control/power over the team than just being the coach....
dogdoc
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ He's a DBAF, who cares? I don't know about that--the top college coaches are making as much as the pro coaches now. Les Miles benefits now after winning the NC was estimated at 3.4 million. What do the pro coaches make??? Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I'm wondering who contacted who. The way the media spins things, you never know. I'm guessing this is just a friendly meeting, they asked him to come in, he said yes, probably just to see what kind of deal he COULD get, I really doubt he will end up there. The falcons call him, he has no interest in going there, but says he'll meet with them anyways, then all of a sudden it is out that he is "interested" in the job Next thing you know, he'll decide to stay at USC, not because he just doesn't want the job, but because "he thinks he deserves more than what he is being offered"
muggs
Lou, as far as I know, he only coached the Pats (but I could be wrong). He was the bridge between Parcells and Bellicheat. He took over a roster that was pretty solid (built by Parcells). His record in the NFL isn't actually all that bad, and he did make the playoffs at least once. But he also took that solid Parcells team and managed to make them progressively worse year after year. The Pats eventually fired him because of that and hired Bellicheat. I think he was an NFL assistant coach for a while...maybe that's what he did with the Jets??
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I think he was an NFL assistant coach for a while...maybe that's what he did with the Jets?? He was a D-coordinator with the Jets from 1990-1993 then head coach in 1994, went 6-10 then was fired remember this? Dan Marino's "fake spike" play that led to a Miami Dolphins game winning touchdown lol, his Jets were the team they beat on that play

Guest csod08
I'm hoping he goes...I hate seeing so many 5* recruits go to USC. We need to get a few more back east. haha. But honestly if he was to go anywhere, why not Washington. Atleast the Redskins have some talent and he could win there right away.
craig mack
I dont see why you would leave probably the best college head coaching job in the country. The only reason I could see him leave USC is if they were about to lose scholarships because of some illegal activities.
