bluelund79
Used the baby mojo for most of this season, brought in bw teal and wood ducks as well. Those are the only species we connected with this season. It worked good enough on getting some flocks of canadas to come back around as well. I ended buying a second one to compliment my hunting buddies on an after season sale for $45!!!! Come on 08 season already!
Hardwood_HD
another thing i was gonna ask is if the mojos spook geese, i have read and heard from some others that geese dont really like the mojos
bluelund79
It didn't seem to bother them to us. We didn't get as much of the action on the migrants, but the local population got beat up pretty good by us. I won't say that it drew them in, but it certainly didn't sppok them either. However, we were using floaters and hunting in a lake that they used for resting after feeding. It was also along a flyway betweem feeding sites. Didn't use them in a field environment, and that is where I heard people saying that they were spooked. This also was my first year waterfowl hunting in almost 10 years, and it was alot of fun. We had a good mix of dekes out also...
Tominator
another thing i was gonna ask is if the mojos spook geese, i have read and heard from some others that geese dont really like the mojos That's exactly what I was going to tell you Devin. The guy I sometimes waterfowl with won't put his mojo out if he's trying to work Canadas. BTW--I have 3 mojo doves, and yes, they work! 98chevy
I dont use them alot cuss the spook everything down this way in my experience. I think because by the tim they reach us they have seen it all. I do use it though when it rainy or real cloudy to help with movement. DU_man_84
man when them things first came out it was amazing the birds they brought in, now many years down the road, yeah they still work, but not like they use too, in my experience now a days we kill the same amount of birds with or without them, calling has a lot to do with working the birds, we still use it from time to time, but mostly we end up not using them on the water, the field is a different story, we always run mojos when were in the field, they seem to work so much better in the fields, as for the geese, most times if we have the mojos on the water the geese will work us but tend not to finish or land outside of the decoys, we get a couple geese that will finish when running the mojos, so we try and shut them off when working geese or like i said we just dont use them, but ive noticed in the field again when we use the mojos, it does not seem to bother the geese in the field, before ya know it they will be banned anyhow, and it wont bother me abit, go back to the old ways of hunting
oldreloader
They won't let us use them here in AR
Randy
They won't let us use them here in ARI'd check on that, I think they changed that because noone else was banning them. I agree with DU man, they work great in a dry field but, I leave mine at home when I hunt the water. Usually when we hunt a field we pull it put after the geese start flying. They don't seem to want to work as well when it's running. The birds seem to get real decoy shy up here already so another thing I do when hunting the water is, I only put out 3 Mag. blocks when we've been hunting the same birds for a week or so. oldreloader
if they have lifted it for ducks, it's very new. This is straight from the AGFC site... Mechanical Decoy Restrictions With the exception of kite devices, simulated wing movement decoys (including all electronic, mechanically operated, wind-powered or manually powered devices that simulate wing movement) are prohibited. This includes the use of flashing lights/LEDs to simulate wing movement. These decoys are allowed for dove hunting, as well as hunting snow, blue and Ross’ geese during the Conservation Order season dates.
